At the end of the game, Pakistan's players gathered on the outfield and celebrated victory with retiring hero Younis Khan. The veteran is given a big hug from spin coach Mushtaq Ahmed.

Mushie looks like he gives a good cuddle. A warm, fuzzy character.

How exactly has Plunkett offended the selectors? Does he make a noise eating his soup?

England, as they have done for a while now, are likely to keep the same team for the second match at the same venue on Friday.

The players they could turn to are Liam Plunkett, Sam Billings, Jonny Bairstow and Chris Jordan.

"Great start for Pakistan, a clinical performance all round. Mohammad Irfan took those wickets up front, there were some good signs for England when Taylor and Morgan came together, but there wasn't much else for them. Younus Khan has been a legend for Pakistan, and he deserved the respect he got today."

England, let's be honest, have been hammered.

That's as comfortable a victory as you are likely to see in this format. Apart from a brief moment when Eoin Morgan and James Taylor were batting, Pakistan always appeared likely winners.

It was a case of when and not if.

There it is! Pakistan take a deserved 1-0 lead in this four-match series when centurion Mohammad Hafeez tips a single down to third man. Ian Bell-style.

Game, set and watch with 38 balls to spare.

"Poor old Adil Rashid. What's surprised me about him this tour is that the bad balls have been really, really bad."

Another six for Babar Azam, who smears Adil Rashid over the ropes. Just two needed for victory. Go and make your tea - England's goose is cooked here.

It was at 12-3 in the third over of the game.

"Brilliant from Hafeez, they needed his experience today and he's been rock-solid. He started by playing very carefully, then he took on the spinners and he's going to lead his team to victory today."

Mohammad Hafeez fails to get hold of a leg-break from Adil Rashid, but there's enough on it to take him to his 11th ODI century. What a superb, composed matchwinning knock.

The stage is set for Mohammed Hafeez's century. I prepare to wax lyrical... and he plays back two dot balls. We have to wait.

"Tough going for England - the experienced Mohammad Hafeez is playing the conditions so calmly, you can see why he's got 170 caps. The real key here is that even though we're criticising the England bowlers, apart from Mohammad Irfan who took early wickets like Topley did, when you look at the other Pakistan bowlers, England  gave their wickets away. Frustrating."

Fair point, Carl. He did show promise. It'd be great if he was to succeed, but he'll never be a regular matchwinner bowling at 85mph.

Woakes bowls a slower ball and it's slapped back down the ground for the six which brings up Babar Azam's 50 off 55 balls. Pakistan within 16 runs of victory now.

Harsh on Woakes there... He was showing real signs of improvement in both Test and limited-overs cricket - including a yard or two extra of pace - until his serious injury, and he's only just come back!
