When asked about England's spin bowlers...
"You ask any spinner and they will tell you that spinners develop later. It's important we give spinners opportunities to play cricket away from England and help them learn to play on spinning wickets. We can't do that in this country, the pitches are so different to what you experience outside this country. For example, it would benefit some bowlers to go and play club cricket in Sri Lanka."

Nick in Canterbury: Shouldn't the England scorecard say "Buttler run out (Taylor) 1" ?

Did you think England could have won the Test series against Pakistan?
"I thought we had a good chance if we scored big runs. There were times where we were in decent positions and let it slip and ultimately that was the difference. There will be regrets because we played some good cricket and some players will scratch their heads and wonder how we lost 2-0."

Rob Zabrocky: Bless him, Reece Topley looks like he's never picked up a cricket bat before
Greg: So England score 69-7 off the last 20 overs of a one day game. Oh dear!

How do you rate England's performance in the Ashes?
Andrew Strauss: "The fact the guys performed so well under pressure and grabbed games by the scruff of the neck is a great testament. It's testament to the team spirit they have built up over 18 months. They savoured that victory, they worked really hard for it."

Don't forget that England director of cricket Andrew Strauss is taking your questions on Test Match Special during the interval. We'll bring you the best of what he has to say right here.
England have endured a desperately disappointing time in the first ODI in Abu Dhabi.
After winning the toss and batting first, they were 12-3 after just 3.1 overs and never really recovered.
Only Eoin Morgan (76), James Taylor (60) and Chris Woakes (33) played any innings of real substance on a pitch offering very little assistance to the bowlers.
For Pakistan, their left-arm quicks Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Irfan (3-35) were impressive while Anwar Ali and Shoaib Malik took two wickets each.
England 216 all out (49.4 overs) - won toss
Fall of wickets: 0-1 (Roy 0), 7-2 (Root 0), 14-3 (Hales 10), 147-4 (Morgan 76), 148-5 (Buttler 1), 157-6 (Taylor 60), 161-7 (Moeen 7), 180-8 (Rashid 7), 213-9 (Willey 13), 216-10 (Woakes 33)
Not out batsman: Topley 0*
Bowling figures: Irfan 10-2-35-3, Anwar 6-0-32-2, Malik 10-0-45-2, Yasir 10-0-38-1, Wahab 9.4-1-29-0, Bilal 4-0-32-0.

"They had to run, to try and get Chris Woakes on strike. The England bowling attack have got their work cut out now, but it's not impossible."
Woakes run out 33 (Eng 216 all out)
That is all she wrote. Chris Woakes is run out. Like Buttler earlier, there's no dive. Sarfraz Ahmed, the keeper, was the man with the direct hit, ending what has been a pretty sorry story for England. It's hard to think that they've got enough runs.
Eng 216-9
England run to the keeper, direct hit. Woakes looks gone...
Three balls remain, still no boundary. Two and a single from Woakes through the off side.

"Pakistan have fielded like South Africa. Brilliant. A revelation."
Reece Topley is England's number 11, with the live text desk wondering why he's in the side ahead of Liam Plunkett. Because he's a left-armer? He's certainly nowhere near as good a bat as Plunkett. Three balls, no chance of hitting any of them. Last set coming up.
Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special
"Without doubt, the pick of the bowlers has to be Mohammad Irfan, he's been on the money from ball one and kept it gun-barrel straight when Willey was looking to hit out. Still nine balls to go, England need to bat out the overs."
Willey b Irfan 13 (Eng 213-9)
Bowled him! David Willey falls looking for the elusive boundary, swiping at Mohammad Irfan and losing his furniture to a yorker delivered from the height of the moon. It's been excellent bowling Pakistan and they only have onw more England wicket to snaffle.

Before we completely slate England for the tour so far, let's just wait and see how Pakistan fare when they come to our shores. Whole different ball game then.
