Younus c Rashid b Topley 9 (Pak 41-3)
Reece Topley has done it again, giving England more hope on this game and ending Younus Khan's ODI career. It's not a great way to finish, Younus pretty much hacking to mid-on, where Adil Rashid takes a good diving catch. The Pakistan players meet Younus on the boundary, applauding the end of a career that took in 265 ODIs. More importantly, England have more than a chance of winning this game.

"It came off the middle of the bat. It's the worst review I've ever seen. Whoever suckered Eoin Morgan into taking that review should be put in the dressing room naughty corner.
"The batsman looked more confused than anyone."
I tell you what, this might go down as the worst review in the history of reviews. You know why? Hafeez middled it. Not just a bit of bat, an edge, but the dead centre of the blade. Not pad, no boot. A review worse than those Oasis got for Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.
Pak 39-2
England sneak a review in the nick of time. Chris Woakes the new bowler, thinking he has got the boot of Mohammad Hafeez. Is he right?

"Reece Topley is not out and out quick. He's not like a Tymal Mills who can hit 90mph. If you're opening the bowling in international cricket without pace, you need something extra. There's no pace about England's attack today at all."
Still Topley, who has plenty of arm in his run-up. A bit flappy, like one of those inflatables you see outside a used car dealership. Younus, after an iffy start, is looking more in the groove, getting only a single from a thumping cover drive. The fielder, Alex Hales, needs a new hand for Christmas.

England will never produce spinners of high quality. No support from counties unless a spinner is an genuine all-rounder. No pitches favour them during domestic season. The mentality that spinners develop later in their careers is no incentive for a young spinner with ambitions to play for England!

Shot lad. Mohammad Hafeez gets on his toes and pushes Willey back down the ground, a back-foot straight drive, if you will. Willey, the blonde hair of a grown-up Milky Bar Kid, is now bowling without any slips. It might be time for him to have a rest.

"The lights are on now and the sky is absolutely coal black. The only other thing we can see is another sports ground with lights shining bright. I think the UAE football team is staying in the same hotel as us."
Topley is a big man with a jaw as square as Desperate Dan as well as a hint of stubble. Dark hair, sleeve tattoo on his left arm. Swing, fast-medium, so not express. Good from Younus, a lovely drive through mid-off.

"It's perplexing that wickets have fallen early in both innings. These two are big players for Pakistan now. If England can break these two up, they have a chance."
Topley, by the way, is on the move from Essex to Hampshire this winter. A man who has struggled for fitness over the last couple of years, he has played only six first-class games in two seasons, largely playing only white-ball stuff. Two key men at the crease for Pakistan, Hafeez driving Willey through the covers for four.

There you go. In answer to your earlier question, that's why Reece Topley is in the side.
Scotty
Topley, a tattooed tormentor of Pakistani openers, has a fearsome appeal, one that he must have practised in front of the mirror. Younus Khan, in his last ODI innings, is the new man, getting hit on the pads, then playing a wild drive. After a couple of aborted Topley run-ups, Younus bizarrely flat-bats down the ground for four.

"I was just thinking that you don't want to waste a review on Bilal given what we've seen of him so far. But even Dickie Bird would have given that out."
Bilal lbw Topley 2 (Pak 15-2)
Now then, do England have a sniff? Reece Topley is working some magic with the new ball, hopping it back to the Pakistan batsmen, who are playing French cricket. Bilal got a good stride in, but the ball was straight enough. Any question about height answered when replays show it would have hit the top of the stumps. Game on.

"Height might be an issue, but no-ball won't be. I've never seen a bowler like this, Reece Topley bowls two foot behind the popping crease."
Pak 15-1
Yep, this looks another good shout to me. Topley again, this time to Bilal Asif. Swinging back. Maybe too high?
Quiet in Abu Dhabi, pensive. The England coaching staff (with Paul Collingwood in their ranks) sit very stoney-faced as Willey goes past the edge of Bilal. Just picking up on the theme of England's left-armed opening bowlers, who are England's best ODI new-ball pair? Would Finn and Wood be in this team if they were fit?
