    Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"I said the bowlers would have to get England out of jail... and they have. This was a beautiful line and length delivery and it was very smart captaincy to bring out a close catcher and put him at short cover. When you get a decision right like that, it's like waking up on Christmas morning."

    Rossouw c Hales b Topley 4 (SA 22-3)

And another! Reece Topley is destroying the South Africa top order and England are on the charge. It's actually brilliant captaincy from Eoin Morgan, who moves a catcher to short cover and sees Rilee Rossouw obligingly drive straight to Alex Hales. 236 is looking like a pretty decent score...

    Shaun Pollock
Ex-South Africa captain on BBC Test Match Special

"The best chase here for an ODI played in the day is 242, so this would be close to the record if South Africa won."

  4. SA 18-2 (target 237)published at 7 overs

At the moment, there's a lot on the shoulders of Hashim Amla. Not that he's bothered by it. In fact, I doubt tremors localised in the middle of Newlands would bother the Beard. Slightly short from Broad, a pull shot whipped for four by Amla as the crowd sing his name.

  5. Women's ODI: SA v Englandpublished at 12:45

    Eng 38-3 (9.1 overs) - target 197

Charlotte Edwards has survived a strong lbw appeal, but Sarah Taylor is out for two - and England are in a bit of a pickle, having slumped from 30-0 to 38-3.

  7. SA 14-2 (Topley 3-1-9-2)published at 6 overs

The end of a brilliant Reece Topley over, a double-wicket maiden that has got England right in this match. The men in blue are buzzing all over Cape Town, while the Proteas are starting to thing that 237 could be a long way away.

Ooooohhhh! Actually, nothing happened. Rossouw played a straight ball back down the ground.

    Du Plessis b Topley 0 (SA 14-2)

Bowled him! It's a beauty from Reece Topley to send Faf du Plessis back for a golden duck. Full, in-swing, stumps akimbo. England have taken two in two balls and this match is alive. Reece Topley is on a hat-trick.

"That's a great call by Jos Buttler because he advised the captain to go upstairs. The ideal start for England with South Africa well behind the rate and now they've lost the in-form batsman."

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.1 overs

    De Kock c Buttler b Topley 4 (SA 14-1)

Gone! A good review from England and a big early strike. It looked innocuous at first, but Quinton de Kock has got an inside edge to one that Reece Topley got to nip back. Bat, then trouser, then the gloves of Jos Buttler. England's good start with the ball is rewarded with an important wicket.

England like this, they are whoop whooping. Has Quinton de Kock inside-edged Reece Topley behind? Chris Gaffaney says no. Eoin Morgan disagrees...

  19. SA 14-0 (target 237)published at 5 overs

On a day such as this, that is a romantic cricket stroke from Hashim Amla. A back-foot drive for four off Stuart Broad, square of the wicket with minimal movement of the bat. All poise and timing. Dreamy stuff. The Romeo and Juliet of cricket strokes, without a tragic ending.
