  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.2 overs

    Mithun c Watson b Zampa 23 (Ban 62-3)

Oh no. Mithun Ali has drowned in honey here. Adam Zampa serves up a half-tracker, a complete pie. Mithun can hit it for four, six, or 12, but somehow only picks out Shane Watson at deep mid-wicket. The sort of dismissal that makes you want to retire.

Ben Thapa: Can anyone remember a more friendly Australian bowling attack than this?

  3. 6 runs

    Ban 61-2published at 9 overs

That's a biggie! Shakib slog sweep's over cow for a sixer. Steve Waugh might even have taken the catch. The Tigers are starting to tick.

Tristan's tweet actually had something slightly fruitier than "no", but I can't print it. Do let me know of your stories of cricketing selfies, or even send me a few. I don't just want a smiling Joe Root, something unusual please. You and Alastair Cook with a sheep. You get my drift. Spin for the first time, Glenn Maxwell. Steve Waugh is in the crowd, watching as Shakib goes inside-out over cover for four. Crowd getting louder...

Tristan Flint: Had a mate who asked Watson for a selfie with Watson during the ashes 2015, doing the review sign. Politely told no!

  6. Ban 49-2published at 8 overs

I'm told that a chap in a red and white shirt, the hoops of Hamilton Academical, took that catch in the crowd. He's waving to the cameras, so he must have clung on. Mithun is motoring now, only denied a boundary through long-on by the diving James Faulkner.

More pace from the Aussies, this time in the shape of Mitchell 'don't call me Shaun/Geoff/Rod' Marsh. Mithun, quiet so far, throws himself into an aerial straight drive that skips past mid-off and away for four. Hello, what's this? Short from Marsh, Mithun leans back and launches it into orbit. Six over cover. The crowd bang into that, which is good, because they need to throw the ball back.

JoElle: Tuning in purely to see if Shane Watson can get himself out LBW whilst bowling.

  10. Ban 33-2 (Watson 2-0-10-2)published at 6 overs

That wicket even drew a smile to the lips of Watson. I think he was giving Sabbir a bit of a send-off. Cherish that. A Shane Watson smile is even rarer than a successful Shane Watson lbw review. Shakib Al Hasan, a class act, is the new man, delicately late-cutting for four.

    Sabbir c Faulkner b Watson 12 (Ban 25-2)

I just wonder if it's going to be a tough night for Bangladesh. Sabbir Rahman, who has swiped at everything without making much contact, heaves at the returning Shane Watson, but only finds the tumbling James Faulkner at mid-on.

  14. Ban 25-1 (Coulter-Nile 3-0-9-0)published at 5 overs

Nice to have you with us, Alex. How's Delhi? You are missing something - Finch has been left out. He didn't play against New Zealand either. Still Coulter-Nile, who's been miserly so far. More back-of-a-length stuff, extracting some decent bounce. Only when he slips in a full bunger does Sabbir bunt over the covers for a couple.

  16. Ban 19-1published at 4 overs

John Hastings, shaved head and shoulders wider than a wardrobe, is into the attack. More than a passing resemblance to Tyson Fury. Sabbir finally gets bat on ball, biffing back down the ground for four. And again! This time through mid-on. Hastings, neck glistening with sweat, is bowling a bit like Tyson Fury...

  18. Ban 10-1published at 3 overs

The Aussies have got the vice tightened early doors here. Sabbir is feeling the heat, running at Coulter-Nile and swiping only thin air. Leg byes, on five, are top-scoring at the moment. If Coulter-Nile could stop angling it in, Bangladesh wouldn't score a run...

We used to have the odd game on the tenth floor conference suite of the Copthorne hotel in Christchurch, using various kitchen props as fielders. Rubbish Binny and Andy Flour always made an appearance. Daryl Chair was umpire.

Sabbir Rahman is the new batsman, giving us a pair of right-handers at the crease. In the crowd, the omnipresent Bangladesh fan that always paints himself as a tiger appears to be having some sort of fit. How does that fella manage to be everywhere Bangladesh are? Is that bodypaint, or has he had the mother of all tattoos?
