But they say all good things come to an end and the cavalier left-hander has to depart, slicing to backward point with one of the few strokes that have not come out of the middle of that beautiful piece of willow. Pity, I was enjoying that.

  2. Pkn 61-0published at 5 overs

Sharjeel is even picking up boundaries with leg byes. Just when Anderson thinks his figures are going to have a respite, Shehzad gets a thick edge and the ball flies away to the third man fence. New Zealand's 55-0 from the powerplay looked imposing, Pakistan have got six more than that after only five overs.

    (Sharjeel 42 from 19 balls)

Part-time male model Mitchell McClenaghan is into the attack with his left-arm seamers. He tries slower balls and bouncers but three of them are dispatched into the leg-side for four by the charismatic Sharjeel Khan and the final ball soars many rows back for six, making the crispest of pinging sounds off the bat. Never mind the catwalk, this is a cakewalk for Sharjeel.

  6. Pkn 33-0published at 3 overs

    (Khan 24, Shehzad 6)

The thick-set, left-handed Sharjeel has got a fabulous eye, anything short is going to be dealt with and seamer Adam Milne's first two deliveries are carved away into the night sky on the leg-side for boundaries.

"It's a very nervy start from Corey Anderson. It looks like he's holding back slightly. Pakistan will feel comfortable going at 10 an over. It's the perfect start."

  8. Pkn 24-0published at 2 overs

    (Sharjeel 15, Shehzad 6)

Shehzad is away with a boundary first up, clipping left-arm seamer Corey Anderson's first ball off his legs, fair to say Pakistan are up with the required rate.

  9. Pkn 15-0published at 1 over

    (Sharjeel 14, Shehzad 0)

On Sharjeel Khan's list of deliveries to face first up, a gentle full toss outside off-stump would have been very high and the only danger to Pakistan was to non-striker Ahmed Shehzad who was nearly taken out by the ferocious drive. Sharjeel hoists another that evades Guptill on the leg-side fence and pushes a delightful off-drive for a third boundary, what a start.

Akram Hussain: Pakistan can't chase anything over 150 so easy win for NZ from here. India now have momentum so they'll get the second place!

Sam: New Zealand could have scored 130, Pakistan still wouldn't have won. Pakistan CAN NOT chase.

Nabeel Tanveer: Pakistan cannot win because there is no Hafeez today

Thanks Phil. Well there were nine double figure overs in that New Zealand innings, let's see what Pakistan can do. Their two openers are striding purposefully out to the centre now in their Bognor Regis Town green kit and spinner Mitchell Santner will take the new ball.

New Zealand have defended 126 and 142 in their first two matches. 180 should be a breeze right? I'll hand you over to Jamie Lillywhite to find out.

Adeel Ahmed: If Pakistan are to win they will have to bat the England way, Afridi should open and do what Roy did.

John Michael Poole: Calling it now, Pakistan won't get nowhere near that total.

New Zealand's Corey Anderson, who hit 21 from 14 balls: "It’s a pretty good total. It seems like a pretty good wicket. But any total is chaseable in T20 cricket so we will have to bowl really well.

"Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson opened well and it gave us a good platform. I think we have to mix it up when we bowl. It will be an exciting second half."

"Pakistan will have to bat well. New Zealand have got plenty of runs on the board. This looks like a must-win game for Pakistan and they will need to play their best hand when they go out to bat."

Taylor plays a very clever shot to take a full ball fine through the vacant slip area for four. The New Zealand claim two from the final ball, with Grant Elliott pounding home for the second without his dropped bat.

It could have been a much bigger chase for Pakistan, but it still poses a tough chase.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19 overs

    Ronchi c Mailk b Sami 11 (NZ 164-5)

Sami ends his four overs in style, restricting New Zealand to just four runs from the first five balls and then claiming the wicket of Ronchi with the last. It is a full ball, which Ronchi hits straight to the good hands of Shoaib Malik at point.
