    Ban 23-1

What a clanger! Ashwin works his magic again to draw a top edge from a sweep from Tamim. The ball loops high but Jasprit Bumrah spills it. That is two big errors in the field for the seamer.

Rakesh Pradhan: The effigy business could be doing a roaring trade this evening if India lose this one

  3. Ban 20-1published at 4 overs

Nehra returns and is disgusted when a throw from deep strikes the stumps and deflects away to allow Bangladesh to claim three runs from his first ball. Tamim and new man Sabbir Rahman keep the scoreboard ticking with a couple of singles and a two.

  4. Ban 12-1 (Target 147)published at 3 overs

Ashwin is top drawer. He has Tamim in all sorts of trouble, landing the ball perfectly and turning it away from him. One wicket and two runs from the big spinner's first over.

Ireland need 157 to beat South Africa

Ireland began their run chase well, with Clare Shillington hitting the first ball of the innings for four, but her partner Cecelia Joyce fell cheaply for two - they're 49-2 in the 10th over with skipper Isobel Joyce at the wicket, while Shillington has just hit a six.

    Mithun c Pandya b Ashwin 1 (Ban 11-1)

The home crowd in Bangalore go wild as spinner Ravichandran Ashwin strikes with his second ball. Mithun comes down and looks to swat the ball over the boundary at long-on, but he doesn't catch it and is snaffled on the edge by Hardik Pandya, who jumps with glee.

  7. Ban 10-0 (Target 147)published at 2 overs

Jasprit Bumrah makes up for his poor fielding in the first over by delivering a very neat and tidy second. His length is good, preventing either Tamim or Mithun any width to swing through. Just three runs off it.

    Ban 7-0

The physio has worked his magic and Tamim is fit to continue. He clubs a short ball fine of mid-off for two runs and is then dropped by Nehra with a powerful straight swipe. One thing is clear; Tamim is not messing about.

  10. ouch!

    Ban 4-0published at 0.1 overs

Oh, a shocking start for India as Tamim flicks the ball off his legs and gets a four courtesy of a shocking misfield from Jasprit Bumrah. But Tamim takes a blow for his trouble as he collides with the bowler - head to shoulder - during his run. The physio is quickly on.

The Bangladesh openers are Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Mithun. Ashish Nehra has the new ball for India. So they're going seam to start, not spin.

Earlier MS Dhoni suggested that the pitch would remain good throughout. He did add that he has been wrong about pitches in the past, though.

Well, cheers MS, that tells us nothing!

The India players are out on the pitch. They are ready for a big innings - one that could well play a big part in whether their World T20 challenge remains alive.

    Thanks Jamie.

If today's first match between England and Afghanistan reaffirmed anything, it is that you should never judge until both teams have had a bat.

But India are undoubtedly short of what they would have wanted.

As the conversation turns, for some reason to eighties pop sensations, but tragically since residing in the 'where are they now?' category, Five Star, the situation demands gravitas ahead of the key Bangladesh run chase and that will be provided by Mr Phil Dawkes.

Nine fours and six sixes in that India innings but it never really got going, a bit like our "one-name cricketer" chat (well maybe it was a bit better than that at least). All six Bangladesh bowlers under 10 in the runs per over conceded column, a good effort from them.

  19. Ind 146-7 (Dhoni 13, Ashwin 5)published at 20 overs

The crowd are baying for maximums from Dhoni but he cannot oblige on this occasion as Mustafizur keeps things in check. The crowd fall silent again. Have their team got enough?
