"If Bravo bowls 24 balls I reckon about 19 are off cutters these days."

  2. Eng 33-3 (Buttler 7, Root 20)published at 6 overs

Dwayne Bravo into the attack. Buttler takes a calculated risk with an aerial cut shot but it beats the man at point and flies to the rope. He is then denied a second boundary by a sliding Russell, who just taps the ball back before hitting the padding. The Windies own the powerplay.

James Hoste: Panicking heavily, but fair play the Windies, they are all over this final.

Kulvinder Kaur Johal: Oh dear. Root can't carry the team in the same way Kohli couldn't. Very sad....

Alex Beck: Not turning out to be the fun Sunday afternoon I was hoping for...

"The pressure is mounting. What Morgan was trying to do was work it to get a single but Badree doesn't spin it much, it skidded on and Gayle took the catch at slip. Badree causing havoc, terrific bowling, not devastating but just slightly unusual."

Now then Jos. Time to shine, son. Badree's third over is a wicket maiden. There are a lot of glum faces on the England bench.

    Morgan c Gayle b Badree 5 (Eng 23-3)

England are falling apart. Gayle is stood at slip for a reason: this. Badree continues his sterling spell with a ball that Morgan tries to flick for a single to midwicket but outside edges to the welcoming hands of the Windies opening batsman.

  8. Eng 23-2published at 4 overs

Another boundary as Root guides the last ball through midwicket. 14 off the over. England desperately needed that.

  9. Eng 17-2published at 3.4 overs

Another four. Morgan this time. Lofting the ball over extra cover. England counter-attacking.

  10. Eng 13-2published at 3.2 overs

Roooooot! England's leading scorer adds four more to his tally with another back-foot punch off Sulieman Benn.

"Morgan doesn't look happy against the slower bowlers. With two wickets gone Sammy knows batsmen are less inclined to take risks and go aerial. It can change very quickly, but not automatically."

  12. Eng 9-2published at 3 overs

England must not panic. Yes, it is a terrible start, but they bat deep and have the firepower. But any hopes they had of a flying start have been decimated. Badree goes for just one off his third, with England firmly on the defensive. Roy stands on the sidelines, his hand under his chin. Distraught.

Naveed Afzal: I turn on the cricket and Hales hits it straight to the man down fine leg. Root is the key here. Time for the captain to step up.

Peter Eastwood: Well, this is a disaster.

Jon Dunn: Come on then Eoin. Captains innings needed here!

"That's a nightmarish dismissal. Not a great ball, leg stump and Hales thought it should be four, but it went straight to short fine-leg. They have lots of batting, but it is far from the ideal start. Morgan has not been in the best of form and Sammy has brought in a second slip."

  15. Eng 8-2published at 2 overs

It is a horror start for England. Eoin Morgan is out there now, joining Joe Root. The skipper has not had the best of tournaments. Now would be a smashing time to step up to the plate.

    Hales c Badree b Russell 1 (Eng 8-2)

Now England are in trouble. Both openers have gone. Hales looks to flick one off his legs but hits Andre Russell's ball straight to Badree at short fine leg.

Francis Edwards: Generous of Roy to come out blindfolded to give the other England batters a chance at some time in the middle.

Steve Belshaw: The Windies look well up for this, and a great start for them too.

"Roy didn't seem to pick it up, he will probably have never faced Badree before. He is in the book as a leg-spinner but he bowls skidding top spinners and Roy was miles from it, bowled through the gate. His reaction was the ball reached him quicker than he thought. That's a chastening start to say the least."

Joe Root probably didn't think he'd be out there so early, but he is nothing if not adaptable. He steps back and punches England's first boundary through the off side. Start again, lads. Advantage West Indies.
