  1. 'Warwickshire under pressure'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Warwickshire 107-6 v Somerset 295 - Lunch

BBC Radio Bristol's Stephen Lamb at Edgbaston:

"Somerset’s bowlers put Warwickshire under pressure with four wickets in the first session on day two at Edgbaston.

"Jonathan Trott failed to add to his overnight 14 before miscuing a pull off Lewis Gregory, which was held low down by Craig Overton, one of two fielders placed at mid-wicket for the former England batsman.

"Gregory then accounted for Sam Hain, lbw moving across his stumps, and a miserly spell from Jim Allenby was rewarded when an edged drive by Tim Ambrose was held by Ryan Davies behind the stumps.

"Ian Bell, dropped down the order due to a hamstring niggle, was plainly in some discomfort before edging Peter Trego to Allenby at first slip. Varun Chopra reached his half century shortly before the interval."

  3. Remember the name - Haseeb Hameedpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Lancashire 226-2 v Hampshire 109 - Lunch

BBC Sport's Stephan Shemilt at Old Trafford:

"Hampshire finally strike on the stroke of lunch, a wicket their persistence in the morning session deserves. Haseeb Hameed's vigil is over with an edge to slip off Mason Crane.

"He banged his pad in frustration as he trudged off, a maiden first-class century missed. There will be much more from him, though. Remember the name."

  4. Worcestershire reach maximum batting points in Cardiffpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Worcestershire 411-6 v Glamorgan - Lunch

BBC Radio Wales' Nick Webb reports:

"Brett D'Oliviera on 180 not out steered Worcestershire to maximum batting points after a rain-break, but then watched wickets tumble at the other end.

"D'Oliviera's stand with Joe Clarke was worth 253 before Clarke fell for 133, well caught by Mark Wallace off Craig Meschede.

"Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Ross Whiteley and Ben Cox all went cheaply, but too late for Glamorgan to claim a second bowling point.

"Graham Wagg with two and Michael Hogan were the other wicket-takers under cloudy skies, with the visitors looking forward to good bowling conditions."

  6. 50 runs

Varun Chopra reaches fiftypublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Warwickshire 102-6 v Somerset 295

It's a bit of a one-man show for Warwickshire this morning as former captain Varun Chopra brings up his half-century off 93 balls.

With Chris Woakes currently batting and Rikki Clarke, Keith Barker and Jeetan Patel to come, there's still plenty left in the hutch for the Bears.

BBC WM's Mike Taylor has more from Edgbaston:

"Chopra and Woakes are cutting out all risks in the final part of the session.

"Chopra has allowed himself a few carefully chosen singles of late, though, and one careful push off Craig Overton just now has brought him to fifty.

"He pulled the same bowler for six last night, and for a thumping four early on today, but for the last hour or so there's been very little attacking from Warwickshire's former captain. Four fours and that six in his half-century."

  7. 'Perfect day for cricket'published at 12:51 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Lancashire 213-1 v Hampshire 109

BBC Sport's Stephan Shemilt at Old Trafford:

"A cloudless sky gives the perfect view of the planes flying over Old Trafford. In fact, a plane landing on the lush green might be the only thing that could disturb the Lancashire batsmen today."

Ah yes, very good point Emma. Sorry, I was distracted by the carnage going on at Headingley and got a bit carried away!

  10. Calming down at Headingleypublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Yorkshire 152-3 v Surrey 330

Phew, after all the craziness and boundary hitting at Headingley, it's finally calmed down a bit.

Just as I type that, Jonny Bairstow strikes his 12th boundary of the innings followed by a couple of twos and moves to 70 off 54 balls.

Joe Root is 38 off 43. You feel it could be a very long afternoon for Surrey if these two stay in.

Who would be in your North v South teams?

Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow surely have to be shoe-ins for the North team?

What about your South team? Is Hampshire's Michael Carberry on the radar? Or how about young Ben Duckett of Northants?

  12. wicket

WICKET Compton (lbw b Hutton 3)published at 12:36 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Middlesex 49-2 v Nottinghamshire 354

Nick Compton, seemingly under pressure for his England Test place, falls for just three at Lord's, lbw to Brett Hutton.

The only saving grace could be that James Vince also failed yesterday when he was run out for nought in front of the England selectors.

Either way, it's not particularly good news for England with both potential number threes getting low scores.

  13. Minimum temperature for topless malespublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Lancashire 200-1 v Hampshire 109

It's been a slow morning at Old Trafford with Lancashire cruising to 200. So much so that in the heat of Manchester, BBC Radio Solent's Kevan James and BBC Sport's Stephan Shemilt have agreed between them that no one should be able to take their tops off below 35 degrees.

It follows the sighting of three males in the ground soaking up the sun.

Haseeb Hameed has joined Luke Procter on reaching half a century, hitting seven boundaries in the process and their partnership now stands at 147.

  14. wicket

WICKET Clarke (c Wallace b Meschede 133)published at 12:27 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Worcestershire 387-3 v Glamorgan

Joe Clarke's brilliant innings finally comes to an end at Cardiff when he edges Craig Meschede to wicketkeeper Mark Wallace.

The 19-year-old and Brett D'Oliveira's stand was worth 253.

D'Oliverira is closing in on a maiden double century - he's on 168.

  15. 'Bell was in discomfort'published at 12:25 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Warwickshire 92-6 v Somerset 295

BBC WM's Mike Taylor has more on that Ian Bell dismissal at Edgbaston:

"Ian Bell, coming in at the fall of the fifth wicket after being off the field for a while yesterday, appeared to be in discomfort, presumably from the same hamstring twinge.

"It didn't appear to be affecting his movement playing his familiar cover drive, but the ball after rattling one to the cover boundary, he guided another of his trademark strokes - the late cut to third man - to Jim Allenby at first slip instead."

  16. Sussex make steady progresspublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Sussex 131-1 v Derbyshire 191

BBC Sussex's Adrian Harms at Derby:

"Steady progress this morning for Sussex who are consolidating their strong position from yesterday.

Ed Joyce should been dismissed on 47 with Hamish Rutherford dropping an easy chance in the covers, but shortly afterwards completed his 90th first class half century.

"Derbyshire have bowled well this morning and this is the type of wicket where one wicket can easily lead to two or three."

  17. 50 runs

Jonny Bairstow reaches fiftypublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Yorkshire 129-3 v Surrey 330

This is simply brilliant batting from Jonny Bairstow. The England and Yorkshire wicketkeeper brings up his half-century off just 30 balls with 10 fours.

Joe Root is 35 off 31 and the pair's partnership is closing in on a century in no time at all. Wow.

  18. wicket

WICKET Bell (c Allenby b Trego 7)published at 12:20 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Warwickshire 88-6 v Somerset 295

Things go from bad to worse for Warwickshire at Edgbaston as skipper Ian Bell is caught by Jim Allenby off Peter Trego for just seven.

The Bears still need 58 to avoid the follow-on.

  19. Yorkshire counter-attackingpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Yorkshire 115-3 v Surrey 330

I mentioned in my last Yorkshire update, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root could turn the game quickly in the hosts' favour at Headingley and that's exactly what's happening.

Bairstow has raced to 46 off 29 balls, Root is 26 off 28 and the pair have put on 70 in nine overs.

Plenty of international class oozing through.

  20. Broad in the wicketspublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    Middlesex 41-1 v Nottinghamshire 354

Stuart Broad bowls Nick Gubbins for 11 and is now bowling to England teammate Nick Compton.

BBC London commentator Kevin Hand indicates it's something of an interesting field...
