Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
"At the O2 Arena there were 20,000 people that had paid £75 to watch me and Tufnell dance. What were they thinking?"
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
"My dancer said being with me was like trying to move furniture."
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
"First week, I did the the waltz, did OK. Then I did the jive to Shakin' Stevens. I did really well in the dress rehearsal and thought it was going to be my week. Moving to the start of the dancefloor, I went blank. I got battered, the worst ever jive score in the history of Strictly, 11 out of 40."
Let's not talk about the weather, hey? Let's talk about...oh, I don't know...Strictly Come Dancing...

Bob Keefe, playing for Statics, a Civil Service XI (usually played with ten), at Private Banks Ground, Catford, in the 1990s. Bob was told off by the home captain one year for wearing bright red socks. Thereafter, whenever we played at Private Banks Bob donned a bright red sock on his left foot, bright yellow on the right and wore them outside his flannels. Nice teas at Private Banks back then, they served proper chips....

The following is one of my favourite emails we've received this summer...

Ah, it does seem that the rain is coming down again. Not heavily, just that frustrating drizzle, but still enough to put paid to our hopes of a 11:30 BST start, I fear. Oh well...

Oofty, that is outstanding. Has anyone got any better cricketing tat - sorry, paraphernalia - out there? Do let us know via the usual channels: #bbccricket or 81111 (UK only).

Sri Lanka coach Graham Ford on TMS: "There's no protest. The boys were digging deep out there and showing a lot of courage. It was more to support them and cheer them up. It was very much morale-boosting."
There was a rather bizarre incident yesterday when Rod Tucker incorrectly called Nuwan Pradeep for a no-ball and deprived Sri Lanka of the wicket of Alex Hales.
A few minutes later, the Sri Lanka flag appeared on the team balcony, before disappearing again 40 minutes later, apparently at the behest of the MCC. But was it a protest?
England's James Anderson on TMS: "You can spend all day looking at the clouds and wondering what it's going to do. We've just got to focus on what you've got to do.
"We're aware that there's some variable bounce in the pitch - we saw that in our innings and last night. If we can put some pressure on the Sri Lanka batsmen, then great. But we're aware that we've got a lot of hard work today."
And good news at that! We've been told that play is due to start at 11:30 BST. If the weather gods abide...

England opener Alex Hales on being bowled by a delivery incorrectly called as a no-ball: "Something I'm looking at doing after cricket is umpiring , so I can sympathise - it's not an easy job."
Still, if Alex Hales doesn't make it as opener, it sounds like he's got other options lined up...
