England opener Alex Hales, who made 94, on TMS: "As an opener it's very frustrating to get so close to three figures. When I got out it was a very bitter pill to swallow. But when that faded I was pleased with how it went. I had my share of luck but eventually it ran out."

It was another innings of rich promise from Alex Hales, tinged with that familiar feeling of nearly-but-not-quite as he once again fell narrowly short of that first Test hundred.

"You can see he's a quick learner. He has tightened up. He did get caught in that slip cordon in South Africa but he seems to have nullified that. All credit to him.

"He's got a bit to go in terms of playing spin - that's one area where he needs a couple more options. You've got to have low-risk cricket shots to keep the scoreboard ticking over."

"Alex Hales has come back after South Africa and answered every question. I've been very, very impressed with him. Three scores in excess of 80 is a great effort."

"If Sri Lanka could come ouf it with a draw, they will have done well here. I don't think they're looking forward to conditions like that where they come in and out."

  8. Player's viewpublished at 10:50

England's James Anderson on Sky Sports: "The danger when you have an interrupted day is that you chase the game. We're just going to keep our fingers crossed.

"We're encouraged by the amount of movement we got yesterday, and if the cloud cover stays today it should help us."

"It's raining a little more heavily now than in the hour and half we have been waiting. It's a sorry scene because we've got a good day's cricket lined up."

  12. What's the weather forecast?published at 10:43 British Summer Time 13 June 2016

BBC Weather's Philip Avery: "I'm hopeful that the persistent rain will go away into the afternoon. But the problem then might be light for the rest of the day. I'm sure that there will be some play."

Hello and welcome to live text, TMS and in-play highlights of the third Test between England and Sri Lanka at Lord's.

We are due to get underway at 11:00 BST. However, that may be wishful thinking...

Yep, England have been pretty rubbish at winning the final Test match of the series in recent times, especially if there hasn't been much riding on it.

But they have a chance to end that hoodoo against Sri Lanka today, if they can bowl the tourists out. The weather, however, might have other ideas...
