Morgan has had enough. He threatens something from Prasanna's fourth ball with a little dance down the wicket but scratches the itch next ball with a big lofted drive to send the ball over the stand and into the river Taff.

Here are the two England wickets to fall so far...

Martin Burke: Hitting 18 consecutive sixes in Thailand until I was encouraged to 'retire'...

  3. Eng 126-2published at 23 overs

That's better. Morgan takes the ball from outside off and sweeps Gunathilaka for four.

"Prasanna was absolutely convinced. He was begging Mathews for a review."

  5. Eng 120-2published at 22 overs

Prasanna unleashes a high-pitched scream in the direction of the umpire as Morgan tries to sweep and is caught on the pad. He gets a shake of the head in return. Two runs off the over. The screensaver has just come on for England.

"The pitch has played really well. The grass has quickened it up. We've got a decent game in prospect here."

  7. Eng 118-2published at 21 overs

What did I say about Gunathilaka? He looks harmless, but he is dangerous. He is like the rabbit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Eoin Morgan tries to paddle but almost sends it in to the hands of slip before the ball scurries off to the rope. Run away! Run away!

Si Lomas: Under-15 vs Offerton CC. We got 230 in 20 overs, bowled them out for 11. Adam Le Fondre, who plays for Cardiff, was playing for Offerton.

Max Mclean: Our young team faced a mostly adult team years ago. I went 1-76 off six overs, as they set 400+ off 45 overs. We did not win.

"The ball looped. Prasanna made two or three steps and then pulled out. Otherwise Mathews could have easily caught it. I'm on Mathews' side here."

  10. drinks break

    Eng 111-2

Bowler and captain are not happy with each other. Not happy at all. Prasanna draws an outside edge from Root that sends the ball spinning towards mid-off. Angelo Mathews hesitates before then diving forward as the ball drops inches short of him. Prasanna glares, Mathews glares back. "Your fault." "No, your fault."

The drinks break gives them a few extra minutes to continue the row.

"Angelo Mathews will be delighted with his part-time spinner. He's not given away many runs and he's also taken a wicket."

Well, this innocuous-looking spin has checked England. Eoin Morgan is in, looking to push the home side on again.

"It was the angle from round the wicket and Vince was just playing for a bit of turn. He's absolutely livid with himself. It looks like he was about to destroy his stumps after that! He'll replay that in his head about 15 times."

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.4 overs

Vince st Chanidmal b Gunathilaka 51 (Eng 108-2)

That is a poor end to a promising innings from Vince. He dances down to Gunathilaka and complete misses with a prod, leaving him well short when the bails are whipped off. For a moment it looks like Vince is going to go wild on the stumps but he sensibly checks himself before walking off, no doubt muttering to himself like Mutley.

  17. 50 runs

50 for Vincepublished at 18 overs

    Eng 106-1

There have been a lot of bananas in the crowd over this series. These lot are calmer than they were at Edgbaston when they were pelting round followed by a gorilla. Mind you, that was later in the afternoon, probably after at least a gallon.

England are efficient in their run-making. No boundaries but they take Prasanna for eight, the last of which sees Vince scurry home for a well-manufactured fifty.

    Graeme Swann

"The worst possible thing for a bowler at this stage is an aggressive batsman who says he'll take 10 off your over. I'd advocate for Root and Vince to be very aggressive against these bowlers. They're not big turners, and Sri Lanka almost expect them to be taken on."

  19. Eng 98-1published at 17 overs

Gunathilaka second over is a vast improvement on his first. Just the one run off it and almost a wicket as the last ball is looped up just a few yards short of midwicket by Vince. Lazy shot.
