Great. More rain. The covers are quickly on as the players depart. Hopefully, it is just another quick shower.

While the novice Bandara proves expensive, the experienced Lakmal is proving more economical. He goes for a couple of singles.

He also threatens a Mankading against Vince as he backs up. Maharoof tried that a couple of times in the last ODI. I'm not a fan, especially when the batsman is clearly not doing anything wrong.

"It's one of those mornings as an opening batter, you've got to be watchful. If the ball's there to be hit give it a whack. If not just get yourself in, let the zip go out of the surface."

Last year my old village team Ashdon scored a league record 280-1 in an Wednesday night T20 game. We then bowled them out for 50 odd.

I've never noticed them before but the England shirts have patches on the elbows, making them look a bit like sporting geography teachers. I'm assuming they're padded. That's what you get as an international sportsman - protection from a scabby graze that lasts all summer.

Meanwhile, Vince is warming up to this. He takes the erratic Bandara for a couple of driven boundaries through cover. There is nothing finer than a well-executed off-drive, especially when the batsman holds it for a second or two as if to say 'Did you see that? Did you? Eh?'

A solid, steady start from England. All proper and correct with no fireworks just yet. Roy looks like he was born with a bat in his hand, while Vince is easing himself in to the task ahead.

Debutant Chaminda Bandara is thrown the new ball. Get in there son, show us what you can do. He is edged by Vince to get the opener off the mark and then worries Roy with an inswinger that just catches the inside edge.

Roy isn't ruffled, though. Next ball is hammered through extra cover for four.

  13. Eng 4-0published at 1 over

Yep, that pitch really is green. Like mouldy cheese. Jason Roy looks a bit tentative for the first couple of Suranga Lakmal balls before launching into an off drive that sends the ball flying to the rope. As you were.

"They'll enhance the specialist bit if they can, have six or seven specialist players - non-Test players. It's tricky if you're Joe Root, Moeen Ali or Alex Hales. You might not burn out, but you might get a bit tired in the head. Then you lose that spark."

"I've got no problem with the schedule. When you're playing for England, you don't play as much cricket as you would in county cricket. I don't see people getting tired playing at home. If any batsman says he's tired playing at home I'm sorry I'll fight him in the car park."

In honour of England's new big-hitting, fast-scoring, ball-knacking style, why not send us your own experiences of ludicrous scoring. Maybe you scored 100 in 10 overs in an evening league game? Perhaps you watched an overseas legend utterly destroy some poor club sides attack? Or have you racked up 300 not out on the beach while your poor son fetched ball after ball out of the sea?
