"Excellent stuff. England in the new era, we talked about the opportunities. This is great stuff."

Teenage seamer Maham Tariq, she of the long run-up, returns at the New Road End. Winfield nudges a two off her legs - she's up to 97, and England pass the magic 200 figure. Another firm off-drive takes Winfield to 98 from 104 balls. Nail-biting time... Beaumont nicks the strike with a single, she has 94 from 106.

Take a look at Lauren Winfield's second six of the game - and let us know if you think the boundary fielder should have held on?

  4. Eng 198-0 (Yousuf 7-0-25-0)published at 34 overs

Slow left-armer Sadia Yousuf, the most economical Pakistan bowler today, returns for her seventh over as Mir desperately rotates her bowlers in search of that elusive wicket. A single takes Winfield to 95, she can't connect with an aggressive pull shot... is that scoreboard pressure?

  6. Eng 196-0published at 33 overs

Maroof tosses up her third over, England take three singles. If nothing else, Pakistan have bowled at an impressive rate - having sent down 33 overs in 125 minutes.

Nida Dar has had a change of ends, can she make up for her fielding earlier? She trots in to bowl off-spin round the wicket, but England's openers are both into the nervous nineties as they help themselves to more ones and twos.

"That was a tough chance. Lauren couldn't quite get to pitch of the ball. She didn't commit to the shot. The fielder, where she was, even if she had caught it the momentum would have taken her over anyway."

The only clouds on England's horizon are literal rather than metaphorical - as some dark clouds are nearing New Road. Bismah Maroof looks like she may be from the Steve Smith school of leg-spin bowling - she serves up a waist-high full toss which Beaumont pulls for four, and again the boundary fielder can't cut it off as she over-runs the ball and it trickles over the rope.

Winfield now takes the aerial route - coming down the track and launching Maroof high towards cow corner, where the fielder gets a hand to it - but can only palm it over the rope for six. Both batters have 88 - Winfield's knock has come from 87 balls, Beaumont's from 99.

"I think quite comfortably England can look at a 300 total. Yesterday it was about getting over the line. Today it's about expressing yourself. There's so much batting to come. It would almost be criminal not to get over the 300 mark."

    Nida Dar, look away now...

  13. Eng 176-0 (Winfield 82, Beaumont 83)published at 30 overs

Captain Sana Mir yells an lbw appeal as Winfield is hit on the pads trying to force the ball to leg, but it was more in hope than expectation - it hit her well outside the line of off stump, and she was playing a stroke, so there's no chance of leg before. Just three singles from the over, though.

"Maroof is a good bowler. If you are bowling at pace you need to get it up fuller."

  15. Eng 173-0published at 29 overs

Pakistan turn to their sixth bowler, as leg-spinner Bismah Maroof is going to have a go from the New Road End, also bowling in a cap. But Winfield powerfully drives between the bowler and mid-off for four. Maroof isn't afraid to toss the ball up pretty high, but England's chanceless opening stand continues as they plunder 10 from the over.

If you follow the old "double the score after 30 overs" maxim, they could be setting Pakistan a very, very big target.

"For the batsmen, now the ball's coming on nicely, you can cruise. Once you get into the late eighties, the nerves might come in. They've got good communication going on."

  17. Eng 162-0 (Winfield 75, Beaumont 78)published at 28 overs

Off-spinner Mir is quickly through her over, but England's new opening pair are still pushing, nudging and sweeping their way towards a very imposing score.

This partnership is now England's third highest in ODIs - but they've got a long way to go to pass the first two - 268 by Caroline Atkins and Sarah Taylor against South Africa at Lord's in 2010, and 246 by Enid Bakewell and Lynne Thomas against an International XI at Hove in the 1973 World Cup.

More disappointing fielding from Pakistan as Beaumont - who passes her previous ODI best score, which she made only yesterday - on-drives at Asmavia, and Nida Dar on the long-on boundary bends down and lets the ball straight through her legs for four.

So, while TMS's Charlotte Edwards disappears in search of the New Road Ladies Pavilion's legendary cakes, Nida Dar faces a spell on the naughty step, where she might practice her long barrier stops.
