  1. wicket

    WICKET Gale (lbw b Roland-Jones 7)published at 14:45 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Yorkshire 131-4 v Middlesex

Well, well, Yorkshire are going to need their middle and lower order to dig them out of a bit of a hole again.

Captain Andrew Gale is out cheaply, pinned in front by Middlesex fast bowler Toby Roland-Jones.

Tim Bresnan, averaging 62.66 in the County Championship this season, strolls to the wicket to join Gary Ballance.

    Every ball covered

This is well worth a listen. Surely Sussex quick Tymal Mills has to be given a go in England's T20 set up?

At the moment he's live on BBC Sussex.

  3. 50 runs

Ed Joyce hits fiftypublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Sussex 72-0 v Glamorgan 335

Talk about dominating a partnership! Sussex opener Ed Joyce moves to his half-century off just 68 balls with his ninth boundary.

His opening partner Chris Nash is on 11.

Glamorgan's attack, without Michael Hogan who was struck on the helmet while batting earlier, looks a bit toothless.

  4. Evenly balanced at Guildfordpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Surrey 273 v Warwickshire 106-2

    Clive Eakin
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Sport

"Warwickshire are adopting an attritional approach to their batting and this match looks evenly balanced. Ian Bell is digging in with the intention of accumulating a big innings.

"With his seamers keeping a tight rein on Warwickshire Surrey captain Gareth Batty is resisting the temptation to bring himself and fellow spinner Zafar Ansari on for the time being."

  5. 50 runs

Fifty for Alex Blakepublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Essex v Kent 126-6

This is some knock by Kent's Alex Blake.

While wickets have been tumbling around him, the big-hitting batsman has produced a fine counter-attacking half-century.

Essex are still well on top, but will just be a little bit worried at how easily the 27-year-old is finding the boundary.

  6. rain stops play

T20 match abandonedpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Derybshire v Northants

There was meant to be one T20 Blast match today at Derby.

However, the wet week has taken its toll and the umpires have called it off without a ball being bowled.

    Frustrating for all involved.

  7. Experience at the creasepublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Surrey 273 v Warwickshire 99-2

Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott, currently batting for Warwickshire, have a combined total of 34,326 first-class runs between them.

Batting does not appear to be all that easy at Guildford today though - Bell has poked and prodded his way to 20 off 65 balls and Trott is finding his feet on nine.

In terms of the match situation - the next hour could be pivotal.

  8. Breakthrough for Broadpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Notts v Lancashire 133-3

And it's the big one of Alviro Petersen! Stuart Broad's figures - 13-3-26-1

  9. wicket

WICKET Ball (c Mickleburgh b Porter 4)published at 14:14 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Essex v Kent 101-6

The Bromley Geezers will have a little bit less of a swag about themselves after this.

Adam Ball is the sixth man to go - caught by Jaik Mickleburgh to give Essex paceman Jamie Porter his second wicket.

Kent are in danger of being skittled quickly here.

  10. 50 runs

Fifty for Tom Smithpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Notts v Lancashire 129-2

It's the Lancashire opener's second half-century of the summer.

  11. wicket

WICKET Lees (c Rayner b Murtagh 63)published at 14:10 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Yorkshire 111-3 v Middlesex

Ah, Alex Lees will be absolutely furious with himself.

After doing all the hard work in the morning session, the Yorkshire opener pushes at one and nicks Middlesex paceman Tim Murtagh to slip for 63.

Yorkshire's lower order doesn't look quite as strong without England men Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid today so they'll need some runs from the skipper Andrew Gale.

He joins Gary Ballance at the crease.

  12. Tight lines from Stuart Broadpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Notts v Lancashire 127-2

The England man has bowled 12 overs for just 22, but is still looking for his first wicket.

  13. 50 runs

Fifty for Will Smithpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Durham v Hampshire 123-0

This is now becoming an absolutely superb start for Division One's bottom side Hampshire.

Will Smith joins his opening partner Jimmy Adams in the half-century club and their stand is up to 123.

  14. 100 up for Kentpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Essex v Kent 100-5

The 'Bromley Geezers' are probably enjoying themselves slightly more this afternoon as Kent bring up their 100.

Alex Blake is leading a bit of a lone fight for the visitors at Chelmsford - he's on 36.

  15. 50 runs

Fifties at New Roadpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Worcestershire v Leicestershire 110-1

Leicestershire batsmen Angus Robson and Neil Dexter both bring up their half-centuries in the same Jack Shantry over.

The Foxes are in a fine position at New Road.

  16. wicket

WICKET Chopra (c Foakes b Footitt 42)published at 13:58 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Surrey 273 v Warwickshire 82-2

England's forgotten man Mark Footitt is back among the wickets at Guildford.

The Surrey fast bowler claims just his fourth County Championship scalp of the season as Warwickshire opener Varun Chopra nicks him behind.

Skipper Ian Bell has plodded his way to 15 at the other end.

  17. wicket

WICKET Procter (b Imran Tahir 48)published at 13:53 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Notts v Lancashire 118-2

After a nightmare first over that went for 13, Nottinghamshire debutant Imran Tahir has found his line and length and is rewarded with his first wicket.

The South African spinner bowls Lancashire batsman Luke Procter, two short of his half-century.

His figures of seven overs, 1-28 make better reading now!

  18. Hogan off the fieldpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Sussex 32-0 v Glamorgan 335

Seems like the only sensible option after that nasty blow on the helmet from Sussex paceman Stu Whittingham earlier.

  19. Listen livepublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Every ball covered

There is of course live ball-by-ball radio commentary from all seven County Championship matches.

The Test Match Special team is also at Taunton for Pakistan's three-day tour match against Somerset.

The visitors have moved to 82-1 with Somerset's new Dutch signing Paul van Meekeren taking the only wicket to fall - bowling Mohammad Hafeez.

  20. Welcome backpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

The players are beginning to emerge after the luncheon interval.

It's a big afternoon session ahead, so let's see how it all unfolds...
