  1. Eng 73-1 (Mir 4-1-11-1)published at 17 overs

Pakistan's twin spin attack, both bowling in caps, continues - and we haven't had many opportunities to compliment Pakistan's fielding, but that was an excellent stop on the rope by Anam Amin to deny Beaumont a boundary. Certainly, Pakistan have dried up the boundaries since Winfield was dismissed, but England are picking off singles fairly easily.

  2. Eng 68-1 (Beaumont 15, Elwiss 5)published at 16 overs

Yousuf in for her third over, Beaumont and Elwiss exchange singles - while Elwiss sets up for a ramp shot, probably not seen at Taunton since Jos Buttler left Somerset, although it only brings her a single to fine leg. All in all, it's five from the over.

  3. Eng 63-1published at 15 overs

A misfield - not the first of today, and it won't be the last - allows Elwiss to open her account with a two - although for three deliveries in succession, she tries to guide Mir through the off side and can only hit the ball straight to backward point.

  4. Eng 60-1published at 14 overs

Tammy Beaumont has been starved of the strike - facing only six of the previous 36 balls before this over - but she's going along nicely with a single. Elwiss is hit on the pad - there's an unconvincing lbw appeal from Pakistan which fails to convince the umpire. However, Elwiss is yet to score from her first 10 deliveries.

  6. Eng 59-1 (Mir 2-1-3-1)published at 13 overs

Georgia Elwiss comes out in her new position at number three - and is on the defensive early on as skipper Mir completes a wicket maiden.

You wait all series for Pakistan to bowl a maiden, and they've managed two in the first 13 overs today.

  7. 'Winfield showed good intent'published at 11:21 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"It's not the best shot. Lauren Winfield just doesn't have quite the elevation to clear the fielder. She was really making things happen but she's still got England off to a solid start.

"England coach Mark Robinson will want to see players show intent so he won't be too disappointed that she got out in that manner."

    WICKET - Winfield c Tariq b Mir 43 (Eng 59-1)published at 12.1 overs

Gone! Winfield, going so well, lifts a fairly straightforward catch to mid-off and is clearly livid with herself as she stalks off. The ball was there to be hit, but she didn't get the elevation she needed.

  9. Eng 59-0 (Winfield 43 from 49 balls)published at 12 overs

Unsurprisingly, Iqbal has been taken off after one over and slow left-armer Sadia Yousuf comes on as Pakistan's fifth bowler. Again, the leg side is virtually deserted - and the luckless Iqbal looks like she may have hurt her ankle in the field, trying to cut the ball off at long-on.

Winfield continues to fill her boots, clubbing a half-tracker through cow corner for four. Is another huge England total on the cards?

  10. 'Pakistan lacking tactical awareness'published at 11:16 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"Pakistan's field placings are a little confusing to me. Sana Mir is turning the ball into the batter, so she needs more protection on the leg side because that's where the ball is being hit.

"Currently Pakistan have two players around the point region. I think it's a little bit naive and they are lacking a bit of tactical awareness. They are making small errors which could have a bigger impact as the game goes on."

  11. Eng 52-0published at 11 overs

Can the captain reassert some control? Pakistan skipper Sana Mir brings herself on to bowl some off-spin at the River End, with the powerplay over she can put some fielders back. But there's enormous gaps on the leg side - mid-on being the only fielder in the circle - so anything even vaguely leg-side can be guided for a single to the mid-wicket sweeper.

It doesn't help either when your fielders let you down, as a wild throw from extra cover, over the keeper, with no-one in the circle to back it up, gifts England an overthrow.

  12. Eng 49-0 (Winfield 35, Beaumont 9)published at 10 overs

Iqbal pulls a bit of control back with a couple of dot balls, before letting fly with an awful couple of wides outside off stump which are barely inside the return crease. Another fierce pull from Winfield is cut off on the mid-wicket fence as they run one. Winfield is dominating her opening partner, but she has had twice as much of the strike - 41 balls compared to Beaumont's 19.

  13. Eng 46-0 (Winfield 34 from 37 balls)published at 9.2 overs

It's a change of bowling - but seam replacing spin at the New Pavilion End as Asmavia Iqbal - who went for 88 in 10 overs at Worcester - serves up some buffet bowling as Winfield whips her first ball through mid-wicket for four, and a more careful nudge off the second disappears to the fine leg boundary.

Winfield bossing it at the moment.

  14. 'Pakistan bowlers losing their discipline'published at 11:06 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

    Isa Guha
Ex-England seamer on BBC Test Match Special

"England are starting to free their arms a bit more and punishing a few loose deliveries.

"That's the difference between Pakistan and other higher ranked nations. Pakistan have lost their discipline a little bit here.

"Whereas the likes of Australia and New Zealand your team-mates are backing you up in the field. As a bowler you're running in and giving it absolutely everything so it can be frustrating if balls aren't being stopped."

  15. Eng 38-0 (Winfield 26 from 35 balls)published at 9 overs

Winfield continues to move up through the gears for England, striking the ball past mid-off where Javeria Khan drops to her knees but can't cut it off and it disappears for the second of two successive fours. She also nicks the strike with a single off the last ball, and I think Pakistan need to change the bowling.

  17. Eng 28-0published at 8 overs

Amin in for her fourth over, and it's a little loose as she sends down a wide before Winfield pulls an overpitched delivery for four through mid-wicket.

  18. 'England need to keep pushing singles'published at 10:58 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

    Isa Guha
Ex-England seamer on BBC Test Match Special

"It's a bit of reserved start. I sense Lauren Winfield is getting a bit frustrated. She keeps hitting the fielders but just needs to play her natural game.

"England coach Mark Robinson has created this concept of trying to pierce the field and hit boundaries.

"But I think if you focus too much on that in your mind you start to lose that three-dimensional aspect of batting when you need to be rotating the strike. Rather than just think about hitting fours and sixes you need to keep working the singles."

  19. Eng 20-0published at 7 overs

Exquisite timing from Beaumont, a cover-driven four straight out of the MCC coaching manual.

What is it about cover drives that makes cricket nerds like us drool more than any other shot?

  20. 'Gully is a key position'published at 10:55 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

    Isa Guha
Ex-England seamer on BBC Test Match Special

"She's very deep at gully and had a lot of time to see that chance but dropped it. Having good gully fielders is very important. You need to have strong hands and be in a good position.

"In women's cricket you won't have people bowling at 80mph and it's less likely to go to slip so you'll see more chances to go to gully. It's a key position."
