    Younus hits Moeen for four

First over of spin, and it's Moeen Ali. Just to annoy Sir Geoffrey a bit? Or is it some cunning plan by Alastair Cook to break this partnership? Younus' answer is to drive past a diving Finn at mid-off for four. Misbah gets in on the act with a sweep to the boundary. Moeen's first over goes for 10.

Don't give them the spinner yet. These two aren't in yet - no way.

Players took the official drinks break after the 39th over. A few visuals of Jake Ball getting his Test cap from his uncle Bruce French, who I maintain looks a bit like the Spanish tennis great Carlos Moya. No? Just me? Alright then.

Just the one conceded by Chris Woakes, who's back in the attack. England's best bowler so far.

Just the 36 runs in the hour after lunch, old-school numbers in an era of Test cricket on frantic fast-forward. When the batsmen have a combined age of 80, and one of them last played a Test at Lord's in 2001, perhaps no-one should be surprised.

This proper Test cricket, there's a real contest going on out there. There's the opportunity to play a few strokes if the bowler gets it wrong.

Disappointing from Finn, who strays down the leg side again to hand Misbah another easy boundary. If it feels like I've said this before, then you're right. Finn has been the most expensive England bowler today by 15 runs. Misbah meanwhile has overtaken his partner in the scoring.

Finn's action isn't right. You'd need an expert on bowling to tell you exactly what's wrong. He's running through treacle. Something is wrong.

Younus, with the look of an experienced dancer, does his leave thing on one foot again. It is actually a very graceful motion. Wonder if he takes lesson in the art of the leave. Anyway, just the single from Ball's over.

Here's that Joe Root dropped catch earlier. Geoffrey Boycott had sympathy for Root, but do you? Have a look and decide for yourself.

  12. Pak 109-3 (Younus 23, Misbah 21)published at 14:34 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

Very cat and mouse at the moment. England keeping things tight but then Finn strays down the leg side and Misbah easily glances it for four. Pakistan under a bit of pressure but these two batsmen have enough experience to hold firm.

Here's Misbah, perhaps fortunate to glove four over the keeper's head.

Another shout for lbw (losing count, anyone?). Misbah again playing on the back foot and it's high. Ball finishes the over with a good rising delivery and Misbah does well to get out of the way.

As soon as Finn pitched it up the batsman got in a right tangle.

It wasn't easy. I am not too critical of that, it was a difficult one.

Joe Root! Of all the people you'd back him wouldn't you? He's dropped Misbah at second slip. It was a really tough chance, kept low and Root had to bend to his left. Misbah survives, just.

It's also the end of Finn's over. You wonder how many more chances England will allow to slip away like that.

Pakistan living on the edge slightly. To be fair, they did that in the morning as well, when a few edges sneaked through the slip area. Azhar Ali was perhaps unlucky with the lbw decision, but England now with a sniff of going through the middle order.

That was a terrible misjudgment from Younus.

It was high but he was lucky.

  20. Pak 96-3published at 14:17 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

How's that? Three chances for England there. Misbah and Younus both survive lbw shouts from the Ball over: the first one takes an edge, the second was high. Finally, Younus gloves a bouncer and a diving Bairstow can only get fingers to it as it goes for four leg-byes.
