But what do you think? Are we in for purring Pakistan or effervescent England today? What did you make of the home bowling display yesterday, and how impressed were you by Misbah-ul-Haq? He's a shoo-in to skipper the 40+ XI, right?

So that is where we begin. Pakistan, on a pretty docile deck, resume on 282-6. They will want to push that towards 400, while England will see anything under 350 as a major result.

Another ripper of a summer's morn at Lord's, although the forecast is for clouds to build and cherries to dart about. After his push-ups on the first day this is Misbah's morning to push on, before his swing-king Mohammad Amir has the chance to remind the cricketing world of what he was first most famous for.

And, in becoming the oldest Test centurion at Lord's for 90 years, Misbah has left the first Test deliciously poised.

He remains on 110, set to be joined by swashbuckling wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed. The new ball is only seven overs old.

    Intriguing morning ahead.

At 42, Misbah-ul-Haq was making his first appearance under playing under Old Father Time.

The Pakistan skipper made the the most of what might be his only chance.

According to legendary American heptathlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee "age is no barrier, it is a limitation you put on your mind".

In a week where a 42-year-old was selected to go her fifth Olympics and on a day when a 46-year-old tore it up at the Open, it was apt that the oldest swinger in town ruled Lord's.
