The crowd very much in the gentle murmur phase at the moment. Maybe 30 minutes before the play starts at the theatre. Everyone's flicking through the programme and making the occasional chit-chat but generally fairly quiet. Finn replaces Broad, and there's a half shout when Younus flicks behind towards Bairstow but a) it came off the pad, and b) Bairstow couldn't catch it.

Interesting thought from Julian about how to stop bowlers falling foul of the follow-through problem. What would be your trick? Got a local club bowler who just won't stop doing it? Or your favourite international bowler is struggling maybe. Get in touch with some creative ways to get people in line. Moeen comes back for a spell, and somehow ends up with a maiden.

When a bowler runs on the pitch, instead of two warnings then banned for the innings, it should just be four no-balls each time. Soon stop it.

Mike's not the only one eating his words I think. I'm sure I saw something before play today where a certain Graeme Swann predicted Pakistan would be bowled out for 210. Azhar takes a single off Broad to get Pakistan past that arbitrary landmark.

Brilliant from Azhar, who delightfully guides the ball through point for four. It was a bit wide from Anderson but the batsman got low and timed it really well. More frustration for Anderson. All he needs now is an arrow through the back with a note on it telling him he left the gas on at home.

Younus is a cricket analyst's dream in some ways. He stands about a foot outside the crease, holds the bat a bit closed-faced, shuffles across the stumps and brings out the unusual footwork, and all for a drive down to mid-on that doesn't produce a run. I'm told Anderson was warned twice earlier for his follow-through. Should make for an interesting next over.

We had an impromptu cricket game outside St Pauls Cathedral around 11pm at my wedding. The police arrived and shut it down (after I had been bowled first ball at my own wedding...)

England's mood - not to mention Jimmy Anderson's - not helped by an official warning for the bowler for running on to the middle of the pitch. I'm still enjoying Azhar's century moment, although it appears Anderson chose to ignore the press-ups completely. Stood with his back to the batsman, hands on hips, in a sort of a move-along-nothing-to-see-here scene.

It's a lovely innings, he and Aslam have played very well. It's a credit to the discipline and patience they've have shown. That's not normally the Pakistan way, but they have shown strength of character to change their game and grind England down.

Salute and press-ups, what a way to celebrate milestones. Azhar Ali has played a very vital knock for Pakistan, who many thought were prime for being rolled over after going a wicket down in the first over of the day. Also important, he didn't go into a shell after getting his partner run out earlier - keeping the bigger picture in mind.

That's a first hundred outside Asia for Azhar, as he ducks and gloves a bouncer off Stuart Broad for four to fine leg. Press-ups to celebrate. What else?

Younus never played like this at his best, moving around and playing at balls that are a foot wide of off stump. If I was number five, after him, I'd be a nervous wreck. He's a shadow of what he was.

You don't need to be a genius to see Moeen was being taken for runs (see videos below for how Azhar and Aslam batted against him), and Cook - of the captain-by-numbers description - takes action by bringing James Anderson on. Younus takes two off him, and later has to be careful in running a single with another direct hit. Well home in any case. Unlike Aslam of course...

Alastair Cook captains by numbers, he doesn't have that intuitive feel a captain should have.

Several mentions in this series about Younus' "flamingo" footwork. Awkward viewing for fans of textbook cricket but it's effective as he flicks away to fine leg for his first run in five balls. Azhar then somehow edges along the ground to third man for four to ruin what would have been a tidy over from Woakes.

Well, if he had any guilt about Aslam's dismisal, Azhar is happy to take it out on the England spinner. Moeen tosses it on length and Azhar comes out several paces to loft it over mid-off for four. No sense in Pakistan going into a shell I guess, and Azhar certainly put a lot of his frustration into that shot as well.
