Give Shafiq plenty of credit, he's not let Azhar's dismissal affect him much. The 75-run partnership could have been the game-changer had it been allowed to progress further. But Shafiq is now keen to get moving. He clubs Moeen through cover for four. George Kinsey tells me he's got "A book, a beer and some Loire-region sunshine" to go with my cricket updates. Well, I've got the sunshine bit at my end as well. The other two might have to wait till later.

Francis Edwards: Always taking important wickets and has finally found form with the bat. Slowly Moeen is becoming Mr. Reliable.

Harry Hopwood: Surely Azhar Ali knew he had gloved that? Why didn't he walk?

Go large or go home, that's what I say and that's what I shall pass on to my children and my children's children. So, good on you Francis. That is top work!

Anderson gives away just one, but his line and length have kept Pakistan very much in check. Younus has to be careful in fending off a couple. His feet have been less jittery than usual today must be said.

The jumping Younus (Flamingo, 80s dancer, call it what you will) keeps his feet still to face Moeen, and gets off the mark with a four down to third man. But this has been a productive over for England.

They had a massive appeal off Stuart Broad earlier - this one was quite timid. But it's the breakthrough England desperately needed, they needed Pakistan to make a mistake. How's the jumping Younus going to play today?

Moeen Ali has the knack, he just picks up key wickets at key times. He doesn't bowl jaffas, but forces the batsmen into shots.

    Azhar c Bairstow b Moeen 49 (Pak 127-3)

More rock and roll than an Aerosmith concert, as the third umpire checks for lbw frame by frame on hotspot et al. Instead, he finds the white spot on Azhar's glove. It's given out caught. Bizarre, but it's happened. To recap, Azhar tried the sweep, ball came off the glove, England reviewed the lbw, batsman out caught. Everybody clear?

They might have gone for lbw, but he might be caught off the glove!

It's got to be outside the line, hasn't it?

Azhar tries the sweep to Moeen and it catches him - seemingly - on the front pad. Not out. England review the lbw.

The pitch is flat, the weather is good, the batsmen are set. How are you gong to shake it up?

    Azhar 49, Shafiq 39

Work, TMS and a melon medley - could work as a nice Satriani album name as well. But nice and healthy work there Olly, wish I could say the same about my recent choices.

Speaking of healthy, Shafiq slashes at an Anderson delivery that was rising and wide of off stump and it takes a thick edge to fly over the slip cordon and down to third man for four.

Time for a bit of "bowled, Mo!" as Cook brings on the off-spinner. Two slips in place for Shafiq, but it doesn't matter as the batsman charges down the pitch to a short-ish delivery and lofts it high over deep mid-wicket for a six. Excellent use of the feet, and he connected really well.

I think the ball might have gone soft because normally you hear a 'clonk' when the ball hits the bat, and that was just a thud.

    Azhar 44, Shafiq 31

Is this going to be like the tennis, where an unexpected toilet break prompts a change in fortunes? Woakes took the pause to sign a few autographs down by the boundary. Broad tries the shorter approach to Shafiq, who defends solidly and the ball takes the scenic route with three bounces and a detour via the nestle between pad flap and thigh. I can hear someone singing the Let it Go song from Frozen in the office. It's all happening people!

There's only one batsman on the pitch at the moment. I think one of them's taking a comfort break. This is not going to help the over-rate.

Wouldn't be my live-text stint without a generous helping of food mentions. What's everyone been chomping on today? Any cricket themed dishes? Mine was a disappointing soup, and a half-decent sandwich. I know, I know, the struggles we go through to bring you the cricket. Describe your delights. send me a picture, write #bbccricket with ketchup, go crazy - in the usual ways of text, tweet and email. Woakes concedes just one from his last over, and Azhar goes off for a loo break.
