    Pak 425-7

And Pakistan's most prolific centurion now has 150, pulling Stuart Broad for four to bring up the landmark - off 231 balls and containing 25 fours and a six. An inside-edged drive that skids past his leg stump off the final ball is a rare blip in a fine innings.

    Lead by 91

And it's the unlikely figure of Joe Root to bowl the first over after lunch - a series of liquorice allsorts: off-breaks, leg-spins and arm balls. Younus Khan and Wahab Riaz are too wise to fall for this trick. Two singles off the over.

Thanks Mitch. Sterling work. This looks like the session in which the outcome of this game could be decided. If Younus Khan can shepherd Pakistan towards a lead of 150, it might just be beyond England, Edgbaston comeback or not. Then again, we've seen more than one collapse from the tourists this summer...

The batsmen are getting their helmets on - it's time to hand the commentary baton for the middle session to Justin Goulding. Be gentle with him.

Adrian Edmondson on TMS: "I once got into trouble for sledging at Lord's, on the corner of the Warner Stand near the dressing-room. I can't repeat what we said, but the next time we went there, there was a security guard in place. And Twenty20's an interesting enough game without all that fake Americana they do, with all the music. For me, they're spoiling it with all that razzmatazz. My wife likes listening to Aggers in the car. And I have a season ticket at Exeter City."

And the big question - are you in the next Star Wars film?

"I can't possibly talk about any space-related programming. I don't like to lie."

Here's another example of the fine art produced by the England team for Cricket United day. This is coach Trevor Bayliss, as drawn by Ben Stokes.

Hugh Moxon: Bairstow has raised his game with the gloves over this series. Shame the rest of the catching hasn't been as reliable.

In the final Test between Sri Lanka and Australia in Colombo, the hosts recovered from 26-5 to reach 214-5 at the close on day one thanks to Dhananjaya de Silva's unbeaten 116, his maiden Test century.

Australia are in the running for number one alongside India (currently playing West Indies), England and Pakistan. Australia - 2-0 down in this series - need to win this Test to keep their hopes alive.

The highlight of the morning for England was this one-handed catch which Jonny Bairstow took to dismiss Sarfraz Ahmed. Worth a second look. And a third.

Still got twin brothers first bats, from 1978. A St Peters two-star,short handle and a Wisden Double Scoop. The SP is called 'Bertha', still used up till 2000 and always much enjoyed at Six Bells C.C Cambridge. Just banged some balls on it, still got a middle although looks like a cracked old plank.
