Sohail reminds me a bit of Arnold Schwarzenegger from 'The Terminator'. When he's walking back, a bit stiff like, he walks a bit like a robot.

What pressure? Moeen unveils the reverse sweep to Shah. He plays it assuredly but it actually comes off the back of the bat. The end result is as intended though, it goes for four. 

Richard Lindley: Drop Ballance and Vince. KP and Buttler back in. Especially when we need players of spin.

Dave: Bairstow may as well open with Cook. He keeps having to face the new ball anyway due to the frailty of the top order.

Moeen is unquestionably very good value, another silky drive racing through the covers for the second boundary of his embryonic innings. Shah is placed unusually around 15 yards in from the square leg boundary but Moeen gives him no chance of a catch, keeping a pull off Sohail along all along the emerald green turf.

Bairstow has played a wonderful innings. It will serve Pakistan well to keep Moeen on strike for a little bit though he is a class act.

Bairstow completes fifty from 72 balls, driving Shah for a single to long-off, his fourth half century of the series and the 10th of his career in his 31st Test.

The thickset, bearded Sohail charges in again in the low 80s-mph but there is nothing to trouble the two batsmen, who keep the scoreboard ticking with a brace of singles. 

Shah has a slip, a leg slip and a short leg for Moeen but there is no repeat of that wild slog at Lord's, calmly flicking a single from the final delivery.

Alex Franks: That's Vince and Ballance failed to take their chances, shouldn't go on tour. Bell-Drummond, Lees or Borthwick's turn next.

Ash Hague: Ballance and Vince have now batted themselves out of contention for the winter. Bell and Borthwick to replace.

Scott Pengelly: Surely the selectors have to give Hildreth a chance now. Consistent over many years.

Yasir bowling to left-hander he can bamboozle him. He can get it in the rough, get some explosion off the surface, bowl him through bat and pad. The pitch is just right for him to pick up a five-fer.

One from Sohail rises up off a length and Bairstow prods it suspiciously - and fortuitously for England, wide of the cover fielders - for two. Time for drinks. Can England survive the remaining hour of the session for no further loss?

You can't keep expecting Bairstow, Moeen and Woakes to keep saving you. They're supposed to get you out of trouble some times, not every time.

Sohail, who has 13 wickets in the series, four behind Shah, maintains a steady line and length in the mid-80s mph but both batsmen collect a single apiece.

Craig Moore: Can anyone explain exactly how Gary Ballance got a recall to this side? He's shown nothing to suggest he's improved.

Peterfeet: I wish selectors would tell us why they recalled Ballance and not given Borthwick a chance.

Shah has his fingers loose now and is finding some more noticeable turn. Testing spell until lunch for the batsmen. And for me, I've only had a banana so far.
