Summary

  • Eng take 2-0 lead in five-match series

  • Root 89, Morgan 68, Stokes 42

  • Morgan's first fifty in 13 ODI innings

  • Pakistan: Sarfraz 105 (130), Imad 63*

  • Woakes 3-42, Wood 3-46

  1. Pak 90-4published at 19 overs

Lovely shot from Malik, who dabs a short ball down to the third man and gets three for his trouble. England are probing for a way in here as opposed to smashing down the front door with their boot as Wood and Woakes did earlier.

I enjoyed watching Sarfraz during the Test series as well. He would come down the track to bowlers like Anderson, not always to hit fours and sixes. He's inventive.

  3. Pak 84-4published at 18 overs

Lord's is in murmur mode as the sell-out crowd take stock following all the early-innings excitement. Plunkett tries to raise the volume with a short ball that Sarfraz does well to get on top of and steer to the turf.

So far, Pakistan have struggled against the quicker bowlers. Rashid hasn't found much turn. They have been able to pick him out without taking too many risks.

  5. Pak 79-4published at 17 overs

Nothing risky, nothing inventive, just get a bat on it and take one. Five singles off Rashid's fourth.

Play up, Pompey: Surely Mike Gatting would be more likely to spill Branston pickle not brown sauce on his lovely cream suit

True, he might opt for the Branston. If he was thinking it through, he'd go salad cream and diminish the threat of detectable stainage.

Feel free to let us know what condiment you think Mike Gatting would opt for on this fine Saturday at Lord's.

  7. Pak 74-4published at 16 overs

The Babar wicket has stopped the boundaries dead as Pakistan look to bat some overs. Just the three runs off Plunkett's latest.

Score update: the telly had it wrong. We were right.

That square looks arid. It's almost like a desert out there.

Jon Sellors: Aggers is on fire today, two wickets in his first spell and a third in his first over back on air.

  10. Pak 71-4published at 15 overs

Tidy stuff from Rash, who goes for five. There is a bit of confusion about the score at the moment. The telly has it as something different to us as we go to drinks. We're trying to clear it up as I type.

Here is the wicket of Babar...

It's muggy, but the white ball hasn't swung much. There's a bit of movement, and a bit of raw pace as well - mostly off the pitch.

  13. Pak 66-4published at 14 overs

A lot of pressure on Sarfraz now. He is 34 not out but really needs to go on to a big score here if Pakistan are to salvage even a near competitive total. Shoaib Malik joins him at the crease.

It sort of dribbled in and struck the stumps. But it nevertheless had virtue that delivery. Babar will consider himself unlucky.

    Babar b Plunkett 30 (Pak 66-4)

Plunkett strikes! Babar is a little unlucky as he looks to steer a near yorker-length ball to leg but cracks the ball into his pads and then back on to the base of off stump. A good partnership ends and Pakistan are back on the ropes again.

Wicketkeeper-batsmen will pick spinners better because they have to keep wicket to them as well. They can see what a batsman who fields at mid-off or something can't see.

  17. Pak 64-3published at 13 overs

Mike Gatting is here, wearing his summer suit - a lovely cream affair. Not a colour to spill brown sauce on.

We have a video review for a potential run-out but Babar is home easily as Pakistan continue the rebuilding job.

I love Jason Roy, but every time he gets the ball he will try to throw at the stumps. Most of the time he will throw to miss because the tactic of trying to soften the ball has come in. And sometimes he hits the stumps when there's no need to and he gives away runs.

  19. Pak 58-3published at 12 overs

These two are doing a sterling job for Pakistan right now. Unlike England, the tourists don't have the depth in their order. Shoaib Malik, in next, can bat but I'm not sure about Imad Wasim based on his ragged, wild-swinging innings at the Ageas.

Plunkett joins the attack but is dealt with well by the Pakistan pair, who are gifted an over-throw by a Jason Roy throw that strikes the stumps. He loves a throw does Jase.
