  1. Pak 129-5published at 21 overs

Plunkett is unlucky as Sarfraz chops an inside edge past is stumps and away for four. Now if he can keep playing that shot and getting lucky they might have a chance.

  2. Pak 123-5published at 20 overs

    Target 445

Moeen is on, Rashid is warming up. Can a bit of spin tempt Pakistan into a poorly-played heave? Sarfraz uses his feet but can't find the rope.

Pakistan have exactly the same score as England (but four more wickets down) at this stage. England added 81 for the loss of no more wickets between the 20th and 30th over.

England need to wait until the required run rate goes through the roof, then you can unleash your spinners when there's 10-15 runs an over needed.

  4. Pak 120-5published at 19 overs

The required run-rate is now over 10 and climbing rapidly. Pakistan are drowning under the weight of runs. Plunkett goes for just one from his fifth. The tourists may as well go down in the flames now. There is nothing to be gained from pushing it around.

So far, changes of pace from the seamers have been the most difficult to hit. But one of the major differences between the sides is that England's tail has wagged when given the opportunity, and Pakistan's hasn't.

  6. Pak 119-5published at 18 overs

    Target 445

Liam Plunkett is a great fielder for a big man. Gone are the days when a tall seamer would lumber round from fine leg and stop the ball with his foot. He dives to prevent a four at deep backward square from a lose Stokes ball.

Sarfraz is fighting a losing battle but he still has a shot in him, which he demonstrates with a classy drive through cover for four. If Pakistan have a positive to take from this ODI series, it is their wicketkeeper-batsman.

Andrew Lewin: Just turned on #bbccricket, external after work and thought there was glitch with the site...444-3 is outrageous! Yes England!

Totum: Wonderful stuff this but I still think England should have declared to allow an early finish and Hales to buy everyone a drink.

  8. Pak 112-5published at 17 overs

Pakistan are just buying time now. They know they are done.

Well bowled Liam Plunkett, softened him up with the short ball and then tickled him out with the next one. He won't be worried with the wide the ball before as Malik has gone.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.2 overs

    Shoaib c Buttler b Plunkett 1 (Pak 108-5)

This could end very quickly now. Shoaib lasts just seven balls as Plunkett draws a forward drive that takes a nick to Jos Buttler.

Tell you what, this will have to be one hell of an innings from Mohammad Nawaz now.

The one person on the field who should be desperate to get the ball in his hand will be Adil Rashid, as he knows Pakistan will have to try to get after him, and they've got a lot of right-handers. He should be looking for three, four or five wickets, even if it's for 70 or 80 runs and they're all caught at deep mid-wicket. Moeen Ali will probably want Adil to get a couple first.

  13. Pak 107-4published at 16 overs

Shoaib Malik joins Sarfraz for what is now the mother of all thankless tasks. He takes four balls to get off the mark with a single.

I don't know if Stokes took the pace off this on purpose, Babar Azam tried to turn it to the leg side and got a leading edge. England will want to keep taking wickets, they don't want to turn this into a 50-over, 260-9 game.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.1 overs

    Babar c Morgan b Stokes 17 (Pak 106-4)

Ben Stokes is back amongst the wickets. Babar hasn't looked comfortable throughout his brief innings and in trying to steer a full, leg-stump ball he gets a leading edge that pops the ball up for Eoin Morgan to catch at cover.

  17. Pak 107-3 (target 445)published at 15 overs

Sarfraz is hitting a clean ball, especially off a Plunket short ball. He pulls and gets four as the ball drops a couple of yards short of the rope. It is the only real blow of the over. England are managing this now.

With such a total on the board, even the most pessimistic man would suggest England can defend this total without Stokes bowling. And he's not charging in at full pace, which suggests he's not 100%.

  19. Pak 100-3 (Required run-rate: 9.58)published at 14 overs

Pakistan bring the 100 up. Nothing wrong with their rate. In any other circumstances this would be rapid. But even with their best efforts here the required rate continues to rise.

I really enjoyed watching that Sharjeel Khan innings. Shades of Sanath Jayasuriya. Trent Bridge is fast becoming the graveyard of bowlers, but who's coming up with the wickets as he's done all season? Woakes.
