Pakistan just aren't working out the situations properly. They have gifted wickets when they could have waited for the quick bowlers. This is turning more than I've seen at Headingley for a long time though. It's ragging square.

Nawaz st Bairstow b Moeen 13 (Pak 180-7)

You can't say this wasn't coming (*checks off cliche bingo card*). Nawaz didn't look like he wanted to hang around for too long. Probably a dinner invitation somewhere post-game. He charges down the ground yet again, this time to a shorter one from Moeen. The ball turned away from the left-hander, who was left more stranded without a hope than Tom Hanks in Castaway. Easiest stumping in the world for Bairstow.

It's time to freshen things up, as my wife tells me when I wake up at 4pm on Sundays. Liam Plunkett takes over from Adil Rashid. Nawaz is really not afraid to take the bowlers on. He tries another swing off the final delivery that if connected would have probably landed the ball on the newsagents outside Headingley. On this occasion, Bairstow is a willing recipient behind the wicket.

I was surprised Azhar Ali took on Adil Rashid off the last ball of his spell. He should have waited for the seamers. More pace on the ball makes it easier to hit sometimes. To try and hit Rashid over the ropes was a mental error.

  7. Pak 173-6published at 39 overs

I said earlier how Pakistan might struggle for 250. They might struggle for 200 right now. Imad Wasim is the new man, as Nawaz tries to take on Moeen Ali with an almighty swing. Luckily, Chris Jordan wasn't close enough to attempt a dive, else that could have been wicket number seven.

I like the rebellious nature of Captain Philco. Why have cats when you can have two chickens in front of five flower pots and a hedge?

Azhar Ali was the man who wanted to take responsibility but he heaved across it and completely mistimed it. David Willey didn't have to do anything. He just stayed still and it was a simple catch in the end.

    Azhar c Willey b Rashid 80 (Pak 169-6)

Well there's no point shouting I'm a really useful engine if you end up charging down the hill and spilling the coal trucks. Azhar Ali has been threatening an all-out slog for some time, and he pays the price. He charges down the pitch but can't get enough of Rashid's delivery, and ends up lofting it to Willey at long-off.

Tough, tough chance. Left-handed Nawaz dances down the pitch and swings away to deep mid-wicket. Chris Jordan did ever so well to get to the ball and dived forward but the ball just popped out at ground level.

The problem for Pakistan is that when they do build a partnership, they lose a wicket.

  13. Pak 165-5published at 37 overs

Has a hamster ever been photographed on a hoverboard? Nothing to do with the cricket. Just one of those queries that keeps me awake at night. Moeen the-really-useful-engine Ali chugs in for another useful over. As Azhar sweeps yet again, David Willey produces a good piece of fielding at the square leg boundary to slide and prevent the four, and the crowd show their appreciation.

Adil Rashid has taken two wickets for the sixth time in his last eight ODIs.

Richard, this live text has officially become the cutest thing on the BBC Sport website since it started. Excellent look of concentration from your furry friend there. Pakistan keep their eyes on the ball by seeing off Rashid's latest over without any danger. And it's drinks.

  17. Pak 159-5published at 35 overs

    Azhar 75, Nawaz 3

Moeen seems to be rushing through his overs like nobody's business. No messing about, no glitz or glamour. Just straightforward spin bowling. Azhar does try to take him on with a slog sweep of sorts. Cries of "caaaaaaatch" like somebody's testing their vocal chords, but it falls well short of Jason Roy at deep square leg.

On second viewing, it seems Rizwan may have struck his own foot with his bat trying to defend. He was a bit late playing forward anyway so not sure how much that makes a difference. Either way, Pakistan look like they might struggle for 250 at this rate.

Rashid has set him up here. He has played across it - it's as plumb as you like on the replay. Excellent stuff from the bowler. He's been getting a lot of turn but this one went straight on with a little drift. Brilliant.
