  1. Pak 113-3published at 20 overs

Trevor Bayliss and Paul Farbrace are watching on. Hello, this is a beauty, a real ripper hitting Malik on the pad. Drift, turn. Appeal, but pitched outside leg. If he bowls a few more of those, he might be on the plane this winter.

Patrick Brennan: Liam Dawson has a touch of the "bits n pieces" about him.

  3. Pak 111-3published at 19.2 overs

Indeed it is debutant Liam Dawson, bowling his left-arm spin. First ball swept for four by Sarfraz, who than dances to belt to the mid-wicket fence. Pressure on the new boy.

I like Dawson because you get the feeling he is in the combat, he is in the batsman's face. A 10-over spell here could go a long way to getting him on the Test tour.

    Need 200 from 186 balls

Chris Jordan completes the England pace quintet, shuffling in with half of Beaverbrooks round his neck. On the England bench, the rested pair of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid remain joined at the hip, while Tymal Mills puts his feet up. If it wasn't for Wednesday's T20 international, would Tymal's season be over?

    Target 303

Shoaib Malik might be wearing his lucky pants here. After surviving that tough chance, a miscued pull off Mark Wood loops into the air and just over that man Root at mid-wicket. Chances plentiful here. You feel like England could take a wicket at any moment.

Malik dropped on 9published at 17 overs

    Pak 91-3

Oooohhh. It would have been a worldie. Shoaib Malik driving, Joe Root hurling himself to his right at short cover. Full length, hands on it, can't hold on. Very, very difficult. Even bowler Stokes applauds the effort.

  10. Pak 91-3published at 16.5 overs

The players have taken drinks, with Stokes continuing afterwards. No Jordan or Dawson yet. Shoaib Malik given a working over here, almost playing on, then inside-edging on to his thigh. Hello, you don't see this very often. Stokes dislodges the bails in his delivery stride, a no-ball under the Finn Law. Not only that, it's a free hit too, with Malik slicing for four. Remember when kids were taught to get close to the stumps? Don't bother...

Nick B: Only need to look at progress made in one year Francis Edwards (13 overs). Only narrowly lost away to SA and Aussies at home both 3-2.

  12. Pak 84-3published at 16 overs

    Target 303

Pakistan fans are still chanting and blowing horns in Cardiff, with England fans then responding with a Barmy Army song. Mark Wood, turning the gas up to 90mph, comes round the wicket to Malik and tests his ticker with a couple of short ones. Wood took two wickets in his previous over, swinging this game in England's favour...

  14. Pak 79-3published at 15 overs

Pakistan stuck between a rock and a hard place here. The required rate is above sixes, but any attempt to get that back south could result in terminal damage. Still Stokes, only two singles from it.

    Wood 3-0-11-2

So, from looking good, Pakistan have lost two quick ones and England are all over them like a cheap suit. Sarfraz Ahmed joins Shoaib Malik. Another quick one and this could be as good as done.

I suppose it was that extra bit of bounce from Wood and Azhar Ali couldn't improvise successfully. Now Pakistan are under pressure.

I think the batsman knew there, he looked behind hoping that technology wouldn't derail him.

    Azhar c Bairstow b Wood 33 (Pak 77-3)

This is what DRS is for. It was a clear mistake by umpire Simon Fry, rectified by the technology. Short from Mark Wood, Azhar Ali in a complete tangle. Is he leaving, cutting, or trying to guide that to third man? In the end, he top-edges through to Bairstow. Wood's extra pace does it again. Pakistan, after a stand of 54, have lost 2-1.

England absolutely convinced here. Is Azhar caught behind? Jonny Bairstow frantically signalling to Morgan for the review...
