  1. Restart at 13:20published at 13:10 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 161-8 (20 overs) v Nottinghamshire

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"I was umming and erring about bringing a brolly with me today. I'm ashamed to say, it was a freebie from Wimbledon when I went last month!

"It might just be fine mizzle right now out there and it's a funny rule why we don't play through this sort of drizzle.

"If it's like this, you can't go out in it, but you'd never come off in it."

The good news for James is he doesn't have to worry about the rain for now. The covers are coming off and play will resume at 13:20.

  2. Northants the favourites?published at 13:07 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 161-8 (20 overs) v Nottinghamshire

    Tino Best
Former West Indies fast bowler on Test Match Special

"It's all about playing your role in T20. If you play your role, your team stands every chance.

"Runs on the board are crucial for me and puts Northants in the box seat as it stands.

"Dot balls are going to be essential for them as well as an early wicket or two."

  3. The covers come onpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 161-8 v Nottinghamshire

The players come off the field for the interval, just as the rain clouds roll back in over Edgbaston.

It's only heavy drizzle at the moment, but the covers are back on and there's going to be a delayed start to the Nottinghamshire innings.

The second semi-final between Durham and Yorkshire had already been pushed back to 14:50 - that seems optimistic as things stand.

Ben Duckett dragged Northamptonshire towards a competitive total with a spectacular 84 from 50 balls. Has the 21-year-old done enough to warrant a first England call-up?

Nottinghamshire wicketkeeper Chris Read on Test Match Special: "Ben Duckett, what a player he is the way he was striking the ball there.

"I'm a little bit unsure about that score after the way we started, that middle period was fantastic for Northants.

"The way we finished off taking late wickets was great. Overall, it's a pretty good deck, so hopefully we can get well up there in the run-chase."

  6. Nottinghamshire need 162 to winpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 161-8 v Nottinghamshire

Ben Sanderson edges the ball for a single with the last delivery of the innings, meaning Nottinghamshire Outlaws will require 162 to win.

They might be a bit disappointed with that, having had Northants down to 15-3 after 14 balls, but they'll still be confident of reaching the target.

Ben Duckett's innings was clearly the highlight, his 84 runs giving the Steelbacks a chance of reaching their second consecutive T20 Blast final.

  7. wicket

WICKET Wakely (run out Read 53)published at 12:51 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Nortamptonshire 160-8 (19.5 overs) v Nottinghamshire

This time, Alex Wakely is definitely out. He tries to run a single after the Harry Gurney's delivery goes straight through to wicketkeeper Chris Read, who hits the stumps with the throw.

  8. 50 runs

Alex Wakely goes for two, and there's a big shout for a run out. After what seems like an age, the third umpire hands him a reprieve and says not out. It was very close.

No such drama off the next ball, Wakely hitting Harry Gurney down the ground for four to bring up his 50.

"Does Dan Christian not bowl any more? I remember back in the day, he went for $1 million in the IPL auction!"

    Chris Woakes
England all-rounder on Test Match Special

"A low full toss in T20 cricket can sometimes be dispatched and sent out of the ground, but on that occasion Rob Keogh hasn't got hold of it and Jake Ball's profited."

  11. wicket

WICKET Keogh (c Mullaney b Ball 4)published at 12:46 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 151-7 (19 overs) v Nottinghamshire

Big cheers from the crowd as Rob Keogh heaves at a delivery outside the off stump, misses completely and flings the bat out of his hands towards mid-wicket.

He's out with the very next ball, driving Jake Ball to Steven Mullaney, who takes a good low catch at cover.

  13. Postpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 148-6 (18 overs) v Nottinghamshire

No wickets, but Northants would have wanted more than just the seven runs from Harry Gurney's latest over.

Alex Wakely is still out there on 43 for Steelbacks. He's joined by Rob Keogh at the crease following that rush of wickets.

  14. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 141-6 (17 overs) v Nottinghamshire

    Tino Best
Former West Indies fast bowler on Test Match Special

"Wickets build dot balls and pressure, that's the funny thing about T20 cricket.

"Years ago, you wouldn't have thought of bowling with a mid-wicket, but now it's a crucial position to have.

"Andre Russell - he's just shown there that sometimes players are at their most dangerous when they're wounded."

  15. wicket

WICKET Crook (c Hales b Russell 1)published at 12:38 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 141-6 (17 overs) v Nottinghamshire

Yes, the wheels are definitely coming off.

Alex Hales' first catch was a simple one, but this is brilliant work, running to his right and diving to catch a Steven Crook shot which had looked destined for the boundary.

Andre Russell finishes with figures of 3-20 from his four overs. Tremendous bowling.

  16. Postpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 139-5 (16.2 overs) v Nottinghamshire

    Chris Woakes
England all-rounder on Test Match Special

"The captain will be over the moon that his gun bowler has got that big wicket of Rory Kleinveldt before he has even started scoring.

"He's a dangerous player for Northants."

  17. wicket

WICKET Kleinveldt (c Hales b Russell 0)published at 12:35 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 139-5 (16.2 overs) v Nottinghamshire

Are the wheels coming off the Northants innings?

Andre Russell puts the ball right in the slot for Rory Kleinveldt, but the South African can only pick out Alex Hales on the leg-side boundary.

This is brilliant, brave cricket from Russell, who is still clearly bothered by a muscle problem.

  18. Eric Hollies stand is bouncingpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Gary Smee
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Not only did Ben Duckett's innings put Northants in a fine position, it brought the ground alive.

None more so than in the Eric Hollies stand where we have bouncing bananas, dancing Lego men and singing parrots.

    It's only 12:30!

  19. wicket

WICKET Duckett (b Ball 84)published at 12:31 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 138-4 (16 overs) v Nottinghamshire

    He's gone!

Ben Duckett's brilliant innings comes to an end, bowled by Jake Ball for 84, two runs short of recording the highest individual score at an Edgbaston T20 Blast Finals Day.

More good news for Nottinghamshire follows, as Andre Russell comes on to bowl the 17th over. He's still limping heavily though.

  20. Andre Russell injuredpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 133-3 (15.2 overs) v Nottinghamshire

This could be a huge moment in the match.

Andre Russell cuts off an Alex Wakely shot on the leg-side boundary, but he goes down with what appears to be a muscle injury in his leg.

Russell is one of the most destructive hitters in Twenty20 cricket, so this would be a massive blow to Notts if he can't continue.
