  1. 'Bizarre cricket'published at 11:41 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 15-2 (2 overs) v Nottinghamshire

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"That's a bizarre bit of cricket.

"It was almost two feet down legside, Chris Read took a dive and caught it. The umpire was giving it as a wide and then Josh Cobb turns round and sees he's been given out."

  2. wicket

WICKET Cobb (c Read b Gurney 7)published at 11:40 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 15-2 (2 overs) v Nottinghamshire

    Disaster for Josh Cobb!

The umpire is already signalling for a wide, so far down the leg-side is Harry Gurney's delivery, but Cobb follows the ball and clips it behind to wicketkeeper Chris Read.

    In comes danger-man Ben Duckett.

  3. 6 runs

Cobb hits outpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 13-1 (1.2 overs) v Nottinghamshire

Harry Gurney is called for the tightest of no-balls, and it's a free hit for Josh Cobb.

He responds by bludgeoning the ball for the first six of the day, the ball just landing on the boundary rope.

  4. No worries for new batsman Cobbpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 5-1 (1 over) v Nottinghamshire

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"That's a big blow for Northants. We saw Adam Rossington got them through to this semi-final when he carried his bat against Middlesex.

"But, Josh Cobb actually prefers to open, so he won't be phased by coming in this early."

    Got him!

Nottinghamshire make the perfect start, Adam Rossington run out by a sharp bit of fielding from Dan Christian as the Steelbacks batsman set off for a quick single off Andre Russell.

Rossington looked to have been the one who called for the run, but a moment's hesitation costs his dearly as Christian picks the ball up and lands a direct hit on the stumps.

The Eric Hollies stand. Wow. It never ceases to amaze with its array of fancy dress.

Today's line-up - we have a group of Mexican bandits, bananas without their pyjamas and some Santa Clauses.

And they'll get to see some cricket in about five minutes' time. Lovely stuff!

Former West Indies fast bowler Tino Best on BBC 5 live Sports Extra: "The North is always the best, even in club cricket from my experience, the north is always more intense than the south.

"Hampshire is nice and I love the nice weather down there on the south coast. But, the energy playing at Headingley compared to the Ageas Bowl is much more intense, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

"I'm not surprised all four of today's finalists have come from the North Group."

  10. Steelbacks attempt to go one betterpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Nottinghamshire v Northamptonshire (11:30 BST)

Northamptonshire will be targeting a victory to banish the memories of last year's Final loss to Lancashire and relive their memories of 2013's triumph.

Steelbacks came second in their group, before reaching Finals Day with a seven-wicket win at Middlesex.

Ben Duckett is the danger-man with the bat, with 389 runs at an average of 43.22 this season. Meanwhile Richard Gleeson conceded a miserly 5.97 runs an over with the ball, but as mentioned, a side strain means he misses out despite originally being included in Northants' squad.

  11. Outlaws the team to beat?published at 11:14 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Nottinghamshire v Northamptonshire (11:30 BST)

Nottinghamshire have won more games than any other team in the T20 Blast this season, topping the North Group above Northants and Yorkshire.

Riki Wessels has been Outlaws' leading batsman with 396 runs, while it's been very much a team effort with the ball as no Notts player stands among the ten leading wicket takers in the competition.

England seamer Stuart Broad is in the squad, hoping to bowl his team to their first ever Twenty20 title.

  12. Steelbacks wanted to bowlpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Nottinghamshire v Northamptonshire (11:30 BST)

Northants captain Alex Wakely on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra: "We would've bowled first had we won the toss, but it's T20 Finals day and we've got to put in a performance if we're going to win today.

"We're a group who stay together and try and play entertaining cricket and we'll be looking to do the same again today.

"Steven Crook is fit but Richard Gleeson misses out with a side strain."

  13. Notts win the tosspublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Nottinghamshire v Northamptonshire (11:30 BST)

Northamptonshire call heads, but the coin lands on tails. Nottignhamshire captain Dan Christian, perhaps thinking of the overcast conditions, elects to bowl first.

Imran Tahir is the big omission from the Outlaws team, the South Africa spinner replaced by West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell.

Richard Gleeson fails to recover from a side strain for Northants, with Seekkuge Prasanna in the Sri Lanka squad.

Nottinghamshire: Lumb, Hales, Wessels, Christian, Patel, Russell, Mullaney, Read, Broad, Ball, Gurney.

Northamptonshire: Levi, Rossington, Cobb, Duckett, Wakely, Crook, Keogh, Kleinveldt, White, Sanderson, Azharullah.

Well, well, this was very unexpected after the gloomy scene which greeted me when I arrived about an hour ago.

The ground is looking in fine condition and IF there is no more rain we are in for a super day.

The stands are beginning to fill up nicely too.

Three out of the four teams taking part today have never won the title.

Northants picked up the crown in 2013, but for Yorkshire, Durham and Nottinghamshire the T20 trophy cabinet is empty.

While we wait for the action to start, cast your mind back to one year ago when Lancashire Lightning won their first ever Twenty20 trophy with a 13-run victory over Northamptonshire in the final.

The Steelbacks were unable to keep up the form which had seen them beat 2014 winners Birmingham Bears in the semi-finals, with Lancashire cruising through their last-four match with a crushing six-wicket win over Hampshire.

Today, the trophy is destined for a new home after Lightning were knocked out in the group stages of this year's competition.
