Matthew Waite tries to slog Gareth Batty and wicketkeeper Ben Foakes is convinced there was an under-edge as the ball settles in his gloves. The umpire is having none of it. Yorkshire need another 95 from 78 balls.

Stuart Meaker is mixing things up now, a bouncer called as a no-ball is followed by a slower one which prompts Matthew Waite to play and miss. The 20-year-old pulls away to mid-wicket for a single and repeats the shot two balls later. This time he places it better, but doesn't time it perfectly and has to settle for three - which is just what you need if you have a sore hamstring.

Matthew Waite seems to have some sort of problem with his left hamstring, but he scampers through for a single from the second ball of a new Jade Dernbach over. The Surrey paceman is guilty of a leg-side wide but otherwise keeps things tight before Tim Bresnan collects a single to deep extra cover to take Yorkshire to 150. The end of the over allows the Yorkshire physio to come out to give Waite some treatment. 

There is no sense of urgency about Yorkshire's sixth-wicket pair. They are willing to pick off ones and an occasional two, but eventually some boundaries are going to be needed if they are to reach the target. Only 15 have come from the last four overs.

Surrey turn again to Jade Dernbach and he keeps Yorkshire quiet, as only four singles are added to the score - 112 needed from 17 overs.

Stuart Meaker is back but Mathew Waite is looking cool, calm and collected for Yorkshire. He pulls a short one but his placement isn't right and mid-wicket prevents any runs. A deft outside edge from the final delivery does, though, bring him a boundary, taking him to 23 not out. 

Tom Curran spears the ball in consistently towards leg stump, permitting Yorkshire only a couple of singles and a leg bye. The home side need 122 from the final 19 overs to win.

Jade Dernbach shies at the stumps as Tim Bresnan pinches a single for Yorkshire and the ball runs away for four overthrows. Matthew Waite dabs down to third man to bring up a 50 partnership with Bresnan.

Tom Curran doesn't bowl many bad balls and Yorkshire are again restricted to singles as he completes his sixth over.

The onus is on Tim Bresnan now for Yorkshire and he spanks his first boundary past a despairing mid-on fielder as Sam Curran returns for Surrey. The required rate for the home side from here is 6.22 per over.

Gareth Batty cannot believe it as an lbw appeal against Tim Bresnan is turned down by the umpire. The amount of turn he is finding is keeping the batsmen guessing, but he only has two overs to bowl after this one. A leg-side wide takes Yorkshire's score into three figures.

After taking 3-4 in his first two overs, Stuart Meaker is cut for four by Matthew Waite. Two leg-side wides follow as he strives for extra pace. Tim Bresnan drives past point for a single, but Meaker responds by fizzing one past the edge of Waite's bat.

Matthew Waite had an eventful time during the Surrey innings, taking three wickets and dropping two catches off his own bowling. Yorkshire now need something special from him with the bat and after a couple of singles, he takes three runs off Gareth Batty.

New batsman Jack Leaning is beaten by Stuart Meaker, who, it is easy to forget, played a couple of one-day internationals and two T20 matches for England in 2011-12. His opening over only costs two runs.
