    Surrey 255-7 v Yorkshire 4-0 (1 over)

I was discussing the noise Yorkshire's Matthew Waite makes at the moment of delivery earlier on. The effort put in by Jade Dernbach results on occasions in a sound akin to a hungry seal at feeding time.

After five dot balls from the Surrey paceman, Adam Lyth launches one over the cover field to open Yorkshire's account with a boundary.

    Surrey 255-7 v Yorkshire 0-0

The Yorkshire openers are walking out to the middle and it looks like Jade Dernbach has the ball in his hand. Let battle commence.

  3. Plunkett's stunnerpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

He's not playing for Yorkshire today because of England commitments - but if you haven't seen it yet, take a look at Liam Plunkett's catch against Pakistan. Simply brilliant.

    Surrey 255-7 (50 overs) v Yorkshire - interval

I reckon we could have a very interesting contest coming up.

Yorkshire have got a very strong top four in Lyth, Lees, Ballance and Bairstow - but Meaker, Dernbach, the Curran brothers and Batty is no mean bowling attack either.

There are those who think Gareth Batty should tour the sub-continent with England this winter 11 years after the last of his seven Test appearances and he could have a crucial role at Headingley.

Surrey will certainly be hoping for a couple of early wickets to put a bit of doubt in Yorkshire minds, and there isn't long to wait now until the Yorkshire innings begins.

So there we are, Yorkshire will need to score 256 to reach the One-Day Cup final at Lord's and prevent 2015 runners-up Surrey from paying a return visit to the home of cricket.

  8. Pope run out off final deliverypublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 255-7 (50 overs v Yorkshire

Steven Patterson has the ball for the final over. Tom Curran takes one to long-off before Ollie Pope skies into the leg-side, where the ball falls just short of the fielders, and takes two.

Pattrerson switches line and length to restrict Surrey to two more singles, but then gifts an extra run with a wide before Pope is run out for 20 off the final ball of the innings as Jonny Bairstow throws to the bowler.

WICKET Foakes (c Brooks b Bresnan 90)published at 14:04 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 249-6 (49 overs) v Yorkshire

Surrey can ill afford two dot balls as Tim Bresnan preys on Ollie Pope's inexperience, but the youngster finally manages to get off strike with a single. Ben Foakes departs as he tries to scoop the ball round the corner, but picks out Jack Brooks. He hit a six and seven fours in his 99-ball innings.

  10. Postpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 245-5 (48 overs) v Yorkshire

Ollie Pope fails to make contact with a ramp shot before hammering the next ball down the ground for one. Steven Patterson, though, is offering nothing to hit and only five singles come from the over.

Foakes looks for final flourishpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 240-5 (47 overs) v Yorkshire

Tim Bresnan tries a slower ball and Ollie Pope smears it through the covers for four. The next one is shorter and the youngster top edges it down to deep backward square for a single.

Ben Foakes is back on strike and he deposits the ball over deep mid-wicket for six as 14 come from the over.

    Surrey 226-5 (46 overs) v Yorkshire

Ben Foakes takes a blow on the knee from Steven Patterson but even more painful for Surrey is the fact that only three runs came from that over.

  14. Waite ends successful spellpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 223-5 (45 overs) v Yorkshire

Matthew Waite finishes his 10-over allocation with 3-48 - and of course, it could have been a five-for if he hadn't put two chances down off his own bowling. Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie will be happy with the 20-year-old's effort, though - only five singles from that final over.

    Surrey 217-5 (44 overs) v Yorkshire

One 18-year-old is replaced by another as debutant Ollie Pope comes out to play his first innings for Surrey. He gets off the mark by pulling the ball down to mid-wicket for a single. Ben Foakes takes two from the final delivery, but Surrey have lost a bit of momentum here.

    WICKET S Curran (b Waite 18)published at 13:39 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 214-5 (43 overs)

After dropping Steven Davies off his own bowling earlier on, Matthew Waite's slippery fingers do him a disservice again as Ben Foakes escapes - this one a harder chance though to the bowler's left.

His pain is underlined as Sam Curran cheekily flips the ball over the keeper for four, but the 20-year-old produces a leg-stump delivery to end the over and bring him a third wicket.

  17. Postpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 205-4 (42 overs) v Yorkshire

Sam Curran brings up Surrey's 200 by walloping Jack Brooks over cover for four. Ben Foakes clips a single from the final delivery as Brooks ends his 10 overs stint with figures of 1-42.

  18. Foakes starved of strikepublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 197-4 (41 overs) v Yorkshire

The start of the final 10 overs and it's time for the third powerplay. After failing to score from the first two balls, Sam Curran belts the third through mid-wicket for four. Curran - one of two 18-year-old's in the Surrey XI - adds a single to end the over but Ben Foakes didn't see any of the strike in that one, which is good news for Yorkshire.

  19. Postpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 192-4 (40 overs) v Yorkshire

Tremendous stuff by paceman Jack Brooks who keeps Sam Curran scoreless before yielding a single from the final ball of the over.

WICKET Davies (c Rhodes b Waite 104)published at 13:25 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 191-4 (39 overs) v Yorkshire

Let's not forget that Matthew Waite spilled a return chance offered by Steven Davies in the 15th over - but the youngster finally sees the back of Surrey's opener as he hoists the ball to Will Rhodes in the deep.

Davies added 130 in 24.5 overs with Ben Foakes, who is now joined by Sam Curran.
