STEVEN DAVIES HITS CENTURYpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 186-3 (38 overs) v Yorkshire

Ben Foakes is almost run out by Tim Bresnan's throw from mid-on as he pinches a sharp single. He is lucky again as a top edge falls short of the man on the rope at third man.

The focus then switches to Steven Davies, who pushes one behind point to bring up his ninth List A century off 113 balls, which Foakes celebrates by smashing Steven Patterson down the ground for four.

    Surrey 177-3 (37 overs) v Yorkshire

Steven Davies is content to bide his time, picking up a couple of singles to move on to 98. This has been a really mature innings for his side.

    Surrey 172-3 (36 overs) v Yorkshire

Only three from that over by Jack Brooks, but tidy isn't getting the job done for Yorkshire. They need to see the back of one of these two - or both of them - or face a difficult final 10 as they look to pick up the tempo.

    Surrey 169-3 (35 overs) v Yorkshire

Steven Davies sweeps fine for four, then chips down the ground for a couple. The partnership with Ben Foakes is now past 100 and he's looking for three figures of his own. Foakes pinches the strike, though, with a single to mid-wicket from the final delvery.

    Surrey 160-3 (34 overs) v Yorkshire

Jack Brooks appeals for a leg-side catch by the keeper, but the umpire decides the ball came off Ben Foakes' pad. Foakes then reaches a 61-ball fifty with a couple of runs - good innings by the Surrey wicketkeeper/batsman.

    Surrey 155-3 (33 overs) v Yorkshire

Azeem Rafiq is getting plenty of encouragement from Jonny Bairstow behind the stumps, but he concedes the first six of the match as Steven Davies goes over mid-on.

Surrey have done really well here, having been 8-2 at one stage, and maybe the 260-270 total I mentioned earlier should definitely be within reach, barring the sudden fall of wickets.

    Surrey 147-3 (32 overs) v Yorkshire

Tim Bresnan starts a new over with a yorker and Ben Foakes can do no more than dig it out before taking a single off a full toss. Bresnan next tries a short one and Steven Davies collects a lucky boundary off the top edge. Yorkshire won't want Bresnan to over-do the variations at this stage.

  8. Postpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 141-3 (31 overs) v Yorkshire

This is decent stuff from off-spinner Azeem Rafiq. Steven Davies shapes to hit the ball over mid-wicket but only manages an inside edge and has to settle for a single to short fine-leg.

  9. Postpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 135-3 (30 overs) v Yorkshire

Tim Bresnan is back and his attempt at a slower ball results in a full toss which comes off the end of Ben Foakes' bat for a single. The next one is a bouncer which appears to take Steven Davies by surprise, but he swats it away for one more. A good over for Yorkshire.

    Surrey 132-3 (29 overs) v Yorkshire

Azeem Rafiq starts a new over with an lbw appeal against Steven Davies, but that's outside leg. Four singles follow, but Rafiq continues to find a little assistance to keep the batsmen in check.

    Surrey 127-3 (28 overs) v Yorkshire

It looks a nothing shot, but Ben Foakes' timing is so good that it beats the dive of Alex Lees and runs away for four. All of a sudden Foakes is into the 40s and Surrey will be dreaming of 260-270 if these two stay together.

  12. Postpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 28 August 2016

    Surrey 120-3 (27 overs) v Yorkshire

It is time for spin as Azeem Rafiq is called into the attack. He starts with a low full toss which Ben Foakes plays down the ground for a single. Rafiq finds a little turn as Steven Davies comes down the track and the ball skews off the outside edge. Good opening over by Rafiq - just two from it.

    Surrey 118-3 (26 overs) v Yorkshire

Ben Foakes certainly has some stylish strokes in his locker - like that one, for instance, as he strokes Will Rhodes through cover for four - the fifth of his innings so far.

    Surrey 112-3 (25 overs) v Yorkshire

Steven Davies flicks Matthew Waite to fine leg for a welcome boundary. The 20-year-old responds well and there is only a single from the rest of the over.

    Surrey 107-3 (24 overs) v Yorkshire

Will Rhodes goes round the wicket to Steven Davies, who clips the ball over mid-wicket for a couple. Yorkshire's bowlers are eating up the overs at the moment but from a Surrey point of view, there hasn't been any real sign of another wicket of late. (sorry Surrey fans if those words prove ill-chosen).

    Surrey 102-3 (23 overs) v Yorkshire

There's a lot of talk about screeching in tennis. If I was a batsman, I'd find the noise Matthew Waite makes when he delivers the ball a bit off-putting.

It's the sort of sound you might hear outside a nightclub at 3am as people pay the price for drinking one or two too many.

Ben Foakes cuts uppishly past Gary Ballance at point as the total moves past 100.

    Surrey 95-3 (22 overs) v Yorkshire

Will Rhodes has been playing for Essex on loan of late, but he's back with Yorkshire today and is given the task of relieving Steven Patterson. It's a decent over until the final delivery which Ben Foakes pulls emphatically through square leg for four.

    Surrey 89-3 (21 overs) v Yorkshire

After another tidy Steven Patterson over, it's Matthew Waite again and Ben Foakes tries to break the shackles as the youngster gives him width outside off stump, but he cannot beat the 'boundary rider' at extra cover and has to settle for two. The final ball brings Foakes one to mid-wicket but Surrey need to start stepping on the accelerator, while at the same time keeping wickets intact.

That's an excellent maiden by Matthew Waite. Keeping the pressure right on the Surrey batsmen.
