  4. Postpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 v Yorkshire 344-9

Ryan Sidebottom couldn't resist. Tim Murtagh bowls a bouncer and the 38-year-old attempts to swat him away.

He misses, but follows it up with a huge grin. Sidebottom looks like he's enjoying himself out there. Madness.

  5. Seven runs needed for Yorkshirepublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 v Yorkshire 343-9

Tim Bresnan and Ryan Sidebottom nudge and nurdle Steven Finn for three singles off the 100th over.

    Tension with a capital T.

  6. Steady start for Nottspublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Somerset 365 & 313-5 dec v Notts 138 & 27-0

Somerset have five sessions to bowl Notts out, but they're not going to make life easy for Chris Rogers' men.

Steven Mullaney has just passed 1,000 County Championship runs for the visitors at Taunton.

  7. Wicket at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 v Durham 273-8

Liam Dawson makes the breakthrough at Hampshire.

The spinner has Brydon Carse caught for 45 - his third wicket.

Hampshire still have a healthy lead of 138 - but time could now be the issue in this match.

Middlesex are not making it easy for Tim Bresnan, as all but one of the fielders come into close catching positions.

  9. CLOSE!published at 13:26 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 v Yorkshire 339-9

Wow, how close is that? Ryan Sidebottom nicks Steven Finn but the ball falls just short of James Franklin at second slip.

    And breathe Somerset fans.

  10. Bresnan swingingpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 v Yorkshire 339-9

Yep, big Bres is having a go. He has a fairly ugly swipe at Tim Murtagh but gets enough bat on it and the ball flies over mid-wicket and trickles over the ropes.

11 more needed for the visitors.

  11. Durham avoid the follow-onpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 v Durham 265-7

Meanwhile in the relegation battle Durham have avoided the follow-on and trail Hampshire by 146.

If this game ends in a draw, Hampshire need Lancashire to beat Warwickshire otherwise they'll be down.

A Hampshire victory keeps them up and the losers at Edgbaston will be relegated. I wish someone had bought me a calculator for my birthday.

  12. The crucial 15 runspublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 v Yorkshire 335-9

Has there ever been a more vital 15 runs for Yorkshire?

We're all presuming Somerset are going to beat Notts for this to be relevant - but it's more than likely going to happen.

Ryan Sidebottom looks solid in defence - he always does. Is Tim Bresnan going to tee off? Boy it's tense.

  13. wicket

WICKET Brooks (c Gubbins b Murtagh) 0published at 13:12 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 v Yorkshire 334-9

Middlesex strike immediately after lunch! Jack Brooks prods forward to Tim Murtagh but the ball balloons off the bat and into the hands of Nick Gubbins at mid on.

Brooks was just a little bit early on it. Ryan Sidebottom comes in at 11. Yorkshire need 16 more or their title hopes are as good as over.

  14. Somerset declare at lunchpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Somerset 365 & 313-5 dec v Notts 138 & 0-0

Unsurprisingly with a lead of 540, Somerset have declared during the break at Taunton.

The burly Craig Overton will open the bowling for Somerset, Steven Mullaney and Jake Libby are in the middle for Notts.

  15. Play resumes at Lord'spublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 v Yorkshire 333-8

The players are back out after lunch. Jack Brooks is the new man in.

  16. Salt caught by Mustardpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Gloucestershire 229 v Sussex 324-6 - Lunch

BBC Sussex's Adrian Harms at Bristol:

"A good morning for Sussex who have added 123 in good time for the loss of two wickets, and extending their lead to 95.

"Ben Brown is is batting in his usual pugnacious style his 65 not out containing 11 fours.

"The wicket of Phil Salt caused the most amusement, as he was caught behind by Phil Mustard

  17. Glamorgan well placed at Leicesterpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Leicestershire 96 & 283 v Glamorgan 199 & 136-4

BBC Wales' Nick Webb at Grace Road:

"A tense morning has eventually gone Glamorgan's way at Grace Road, with the Welsh county needing 45 more to win with six wickets in hand.

"Will Bragg has been their main man with 57 not out, sharing stands of 53 with Aneurin Donald and 47 unbeaten with Kiran Carlson.

"But it could have been so different as Bragg was dropped at slip first ball off Dieter Klein, whose pace caused early-morning havoc as he dismissed Jacques Rudolph and Owen Morgan inside the first half-hour.

"Glamorgan are favourites to record their fourth win of the campaign, as the Foxes need to strike quickly and often after lunch to reverse the momentum."

  18. A great way to sign off?published at 12:52 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Somerset 365 & 313-5 v Notts 138 - Lunch

BBC Somerset's Anthony Gibson at Taunton:

"If this was Chris Rogers' final first class innings, as he has hinted it might be, his 100 not out was a great way to sign off, in the process putting his county in the strongest possible position to win this game, and with it, just possibly, Somerset's very first County Championship title.

"He enjoyed good support from Ryan Davies (59) and Peter Trego, who contributed a typically explosive 55, taking him past 1,000 Championship runs for the season, a landmark also passed by Rogers, as Notts rather wilted in the autumn sunshine.

"A declaration over lunch is expected, after which the serious stuff begins, as Somerset go in search of the 10 wickets they need to keep their Championship hopes alive."

  20. Play resumes at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 22 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 v Durham 242-7

After a delay of more than two hours, they're finally under way on the south coast.

If this game were to end in a draw - Hampshire would only survive if Lancashire beat Warwickshire.

A win for Hampshire would definitely keep them up.

Durham need 20 more to avoid the follow on with Michael Richardson (50 not out) and Brydon Carse (30 not out) at the crease.
