  1. Not outpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 63-3

My goodness, that's close first up from Steven Finn. The Middlesex paceman fires one in on Tim Bresnan's pads, but Bresnan gets an inside edge on it.

Huge appeal from Finn, rightly given not out.

  2. Postpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 63-3

Ollie Rayner comes into the attack and sees his second ball driven through the covers by Gary Ballance to the boundary. Lovely strike from the England man.

However, the off-spinner keeps things tight for the rest of the over. Just the four from it. The run-rate continues to climb. It's up towards 7.5.

Steven Finn comes into the attack.

  3. Yorkshire require 181 off 25 overspublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 59-3

That's a really nice shot from Tim Bresnan. The burly all-rounder swings through the line and launches Tim Murtagh over mid-on to the fence.

We saw a lot of that in his knock of 142 in the first innings.

  4. Yorkshire need 188 off 156 ballspublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 52-3

The task is becoming increasingly tough for Yorkshire now.

They've got a long tail - although saying that, it got them out of trouble in the first innings.

It's a different story this time around though. Yorkshire need quick runs.

  5. wicket

WICKET Willey (c Eskinazi b Murtagh) 11published at 15:51 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 48-3

That was coming I'm afraid Yorkshire supporters. David Willey, who had a few swings and misses at Tim Murtagh, eventually connects but skies it.

Steve Eskinazi takes a fine catch running backwards from mid-on. What do Yorkshire do from here? Keep on having a go I guess.

First-innings hero Tim Bresnan comes in at five.

  6. Not outpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 47-2

Toby Roland-Jones has a couple of lbw shouts against Gary Ballance, but both are pitching just outside leg stump.

He's bowling seriously quickly is the big man. Fantastic first six overs.

  7. Willey on the chargepublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 44-2

That's a seriously good shot from David Willey. The all-rounder, promoted to three, takes a couple of paces down the track to Tim Murtagh and wallops him through the covers for four.

Yorkshire require 196 off 174 balls.

  8. wicket

WICKET Lees (c Gubbins b Murtagh) 20published at 15:41 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 39-2

Middlesex are still in this! Alex Lees pulls Tim Murtagh straight into the hands of Nick Gubbins on the leg-side boundary.

I still have no idea where the trophy is heading. I hope my housemate put those ciders in the fridge. I may need one or two after the last few days!

  9. Postpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 39-1

Toby Roland-Jones is bowling a super spell here.

The right-armer sends down an absolute jaffa which zips past David Willey. He's not giving anything away.

10 overs have gone, 39 on the board. Somerset's hopes of a first title are just about hanging on.

  10. Maiden overpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 38-1

The pressure is already growing on Yorkshire. Tim Murtagh bowls six deliveries on the money to David Willey who can't get it away.

Yorkshire need 202 off 31 overs.

  11. Four overthrowspublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 38-1

That'll help Yorkshire's cause. David Willey pinches a quick single, the fielder launches the ball at the stumps but it goes through Steven Finn backing up and down to the boundary.

Five runs. Bemused looks from the Middlesex players.

  12. Run-rate increasingpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 28-1

The required run-rate is already approaching 6.5 for Yorkshire, as Tim Murtagh concedes just a single off his fourth.

The visitors need 212 off 33 overs.

David Willey will surely have a swing here?

  13. Tea at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 & 245-9 dec v Durham 361 & 149-1

It's currently tea on the south coast and Hampshire appear to be heading down.

Mark Stoneman (81 not out) and Scott Borthwick (39 not out) have resisted everything thrown at them by the hosts.

Durham need another 147 to win off a minimum of 27 overs - Hampshire need nine wickets.

  14. wicket

    WICKET Lyth (c Robson b Roland-Jones) 13published at 15:23 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 27-1

That is no more than Toby Roland-Jones deserves. The giant fast bowler finds the perfect line and length with a tiny bit of away movement and Adam Lyth nicks him to Sam Robson at slip.

David Willey comes in at three. Interesting move.

  15. Reaction to the Middlesex declarationpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

Middlesex set Yorkshire 240 to win in 40 overs

It seems Peter Trego wasn't too happy with the declaration...

  16. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 19-0

That's a better over for Middlesex. Toby Roland-Jones keeps things nice and tight and just two singles come from it.

Alex Lees and Adam Lyth look in an attacking mindset for Yorkshire though. They have to be.

Matt Matravers: Six an over on a glorious batting day. Do Middlesex actually believe they can win it?

  19. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 17-0

Shot of the day from Alex Lees. The 23-year-old leans into a wide half-volley from Tim Murtagh and simply pushes it through the covers for four.

Yorkshire need 223 more off 37 overs.

  20. Put a third man in?published at 15:08 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 359-6 dec v Yorkshire 390 & 13-0

That's the second boundary down to third man. This time Adam Lyth squirts Toby Roland-Jones to the ropes.

Excellent first couple of overs for the reigning county champions as they seek their third straight title.

I'd imagine those ciders are going down a little more quickly in Taunton right now.
