  1. Lunch at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 & 245-9 dec v Durham 361 & 41-0

After they were set a target of 296, Durham managed to survive the 15 overs before lunch unscathed, leaving Hampshire's survival hopes hanging by a thread.

Hampshire need 10 wickets in 63 overs otherwise they go down to Division Two.

Unless Lancashire chase down the 347 to beat Warwickshire - which isn't happening.

  2. More from Edgbastonpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

Despite some heroic resistance from nightwatchman Simon Kerrigan, Warwickshire are progressing towards the victory they need to secure their first division status.

Three wickets in the morning session have taken Warwickshire to within four of a win.  It's a slow pitch on the final day and they're having to work hard but it looks like patience is going to pay off.

Kerrigan, though, deserves plaudits for having kept out 112 deliveries so far, including several from the country's top wicket taker, spinner Jeetan Patel.

  3. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-7 dec v Lancashire 152 & 72-6

It's also lunch at Edgbaston with Lancashire in all sorts of trouble. However, if Hampshire don't bowl Durham out this afternoon, the Red Rose county will stay up.

Nightwatchman Simon Kerrigan has batted 112 balls for his 10 not out. Gritty stuff from the Preston lad.

But Warwickshire need just four more wickets to seal their survival in Division One.

  4. Gubbins leading the waypublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 201-3 v Yorkshire 390 - Lunch

    Nick Gubbins

That's not a bad effort from the youngster. He finishes the season with four centuries and an average of 61.26.

It's now lunch at Lord's with Dawid Malan left on 99.

  5. wicket

    WICKET Gubbins (c & b Rafiq) 93published at 12:25 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 200-3 v Yorkshire 390

Ah, what a shame for Nick Gubbins - he won't make a century in each innings.

The Middlesex opener is a little early on a delivery from Azeem Rafiq and can only balloon the ball back to the spinner.

He's done a super job with Dawid Malan though and given his side every chance of setting a target for Yorkshire to chase this afternoon.

  6. Shot of the daypublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 200-2 v Yorkshire 390

Nick Gubbins plays the most gorgeous of cover drives off David Willey which races to the ropes. Pure timing from the 22-year-old.

However, he almost goes next up as the ball flies off the bottom of his bat and just over the head of mid-off.

Middlesex's lead is up to 80 - both batsmen are in sight of a century. It's going to go down to the wire isn't it?

  8. 14 off the overpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 184-2 v Yorkshire 390

Middlesex are racing along now. Nick Gubbins flicks Steven Patterson off his legs to the boundary and follows it up with a beautiful cover drive for four.

14 come off the over and the host's lead is up to 64. We have 15 minutes before lunch - can Middlesex push their advantage towards three figures?

WICKET Livingstone (c Trott b Patel) 7published at 12:13 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-7 dec v Lancashire 152 & 64-6

Lancashire are six down and it's that man Jeetan Patel again. The New Zealand spinner claims his 68th Championship wicket of the season as Liam Livingstone edges him to Jonathan Trott at slip.

It appears the Bears are staying up.

  10. Tough going for Hampshirepublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 & 245-9 dec v Durham 361 & 30-0

Hampshire are searching desperately for a wicket before lunch. It seems they'll need all 10 to stay in Division One.

But they're up against two of the county circuit's best batsmen in Mark Stoneman and Keaton Jennings who have taken Durham to 30-0 in quick time.

Meanwhile at Edgbaston there has been another wicket...

Yep, I like that Jonathan. Keep your cider puns coming.

  12. Postpublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 164-2 v Yorkshire 390

He's looked as graceful as a ballet dancer for most of this match, but that's not a pretty shot from Nick Gubbins.

The opener charges and plays an ugly slog across the line to Steven Patterson which he misses.

Andy Hodd comes up to the stumps. "You ain't doing that again lad," he says. Probably.

  13. Inches awaypublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 162-2 v Yorkshire 390

Yorkshire almost make the breakthrough at Lord's. Dawid Malan, fully charged now, dances down the wicket to Azeem Rafiq but skews his shot towards David Willey at deep cover.

The ball falls just short of the England man. Middlesex are on the attack.

  14. wicket

WICKET Croft (c Hain b Clarke) 1published at 11:57 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-7 dec v Lancashire 152 & 57-5

The skipper is gone at Edgbaston! Steven Croft is caught by Sam Hain at short-leg off Rikki Clarke.

Lancashire are in real trouble now. But they'll only go down if Hampshire beat Durham.

Simon Kerrigan is still battling after coming in as nightwatchman yesterday. The 27-year-old Lancastrian has faced 90 balls for his seven.

  15. Not outpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 158-2 v Yorkshire 390

Steven Patterson gets one to rip back into Dawid Malan - it strikes him on the knee, but is given not out.

Outside the line of off stump. Malan and Nick Gubbins are swinging at every other delivery now. I like it.

    Middlesex 270 & 158-2 v Yorkshire 390

Here we go! Nick Gubbins charges Azeem Rafiq and launches him over wide long-on to the boundary.

I didn't think this game was going to peter out into a draw. Middlesex must want it. They need it. The lead is 38.

    Middlesex 270 & 152-2 v Yorkshire 390

Dawid Malan and Nick Gubbins bring up their 150 partnership. It's some recovery from being 2-2 yesterday evening.

If Middlesex get a move on, could they set Yorkshire 200 to win in 40 overs?  Surely something like that has to be the plan? There are 76 overs left in the day.

  19. Intent from Malan?published at 11:40 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 145-2 v Yorkshire 390

That's a terrible delivery first up from Azeem Rafiq. Short, wide, and cut for four by Dawid Malan who's up to 78.

I'd expect the Middlesex batsmen to get a wriggle on before lunch now - they're looking well set.

  20. Cat and Mouse at Lord'spublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 136-2 v Yorkshire 390

Yorkshire's bowlers look threatening, but are then prone to bowling a loose one.

Ryan Sidebottom the case in point here - he bowls three good deliveries and then a short, wide, half-tracker which Dawid Malan punches to the point boundary.

It's been a strange old morning so far - I don't think anyone is any wiser as to what the tactics are.

Still gripping viewing though! Azeem Rafiq replaces Steven Patterson at the other end.
