    Breaking

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-7 dec beat Lancashire 152 & 109 by 237 runs

Warwickshire secure their Division One place!

Rikki Clarke (4-20) ends the Lancashire innings as Kyle Jarvis chips him to Ian Westwood at silly mid-off.

Lancashire are now left waiting on the result at the Ageas Bowl. They need Durham to bat out for the draw or beat Hampshire.

Durham are currently 83-1, chasing 296, with 47 overs left.

  2. Lilley going down swingingpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-7 dec v Lancashire 152 & 105-9

Meanwhile, at Edgbaston Arron Lilley is flashing the willow.

He smashes Jeetan Patel for 20 off his 24th over, including three fours and a six.

But it's only a matter of time in this one.

  3. Middlesex lead passes 100published at 13:55 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 224-3 v Yorkshire 390

Steve Eskinazi shows Jack Brooks the full face of the bat and strokes him straight down the ground for four. Beautiful shot.

A couple of balls later he whips the headband-wearing warrior through the leg-side for three. This is more like it as drinks come onto the field.

nw5blue: Ironic that the 20/20 format will decide the County Championship title this season.

Simon Jenkins: Perhaps Middlesex think this is a five-day game.

  5. New ball takenpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 217-3 v Yorkshire 390

Ryan Sidebottom has the shiny new cherry in his hand for Yorkshire.

And the wily left-armer finds some movement straight away, beating Steve Eskinazi with an absolute beauty.

  6. wicket

WICKET Jennings (lbw b Crane) 25published at 13:47 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 & 245-9 dec v Durham 361 & 75-1

Hold on, maybe Hampshire do have a chance of staying up!

Keaton Jennings, the leading run-scorer in the country, is trapped lbw by young leg-spinner Mason Crane.

Hants need nine more in 51 overs. It's unlikely, but doable. And it would send Lancashire down.

  7. Eskinazi finds the ropespublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 214-3 v Yorkshire 390

At last a bit of aggression from Steve Eskinazi. The 22-year-old charges Azeem Rafiq and powers him over mid-wicket for four.

Middlesex's lead is 95 - there are 55 overs left. We could still see a chase of 200/220 off 35 overs here.

    Let's hope so.

  8. wicket

WICKET Bailey (b Clarke) 1published at 13:39 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-9 dec v Lancashire 152 & 83-9

Nine down! Tom Bailey is bowled by Rikki Clarke for a single.

Bears fans, breathe easy. You're safe.

  10. Eskinazi off the markpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 205-3 v Yorkshire 390

Finally, off his 27th delivery, Steve Eskinazi sweeps Azeem Rafiq for a single.

The Somerset players are at Taunton enjoying a bit of lunch. It'll taste pretty good right now - the game at Lord's is going nowhere fast. I'm still confused as to what the gameplan is here.

Middlesex lead by 85 with 57 overs left.

  11. wicket

WICKET Clark (b Clarke) 8published at 13:31 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-9 dec v Lancashire 152 & 77-8

Warwickshire need two more wickets to secure their Division One status.

Rikki Clarke bowls Lancashire all-rounder Jordan Clark to leave the Red Rose eight down for not very many.

But Hampshire aren't taking any wickets at the Ageas Bowl. So Lancashire look likely to avoid relegation too.

  12. Wiley finding some shapepublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 204-3 v Yorkshire 390

That's swung an absolute mile from David Willey. Dawid Malan just about manages to get some bat on it in front of the timbers.

It's been a pretty quiet opening 15 minutes after lunch. Not what I was expecting.

  13. Eskinazi 0 off 19 ballspublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 204-3 v Yorkshire 390

Okay, I'm really confused about how this afternoon session is going to unfold.

Steve Eskinazi has faced 19 deliveries and still isn't off the mark.

A draw is no good for either side. Why aren't Middlesex just having a go?

  14. wicket

WICKET Kerrigan (c Clarke b Patel) 10published at 13:18 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-9 dec v Lancashire 152 & 73-7

Simon Kerrigan's gutsy 117-ball vigil at the crease finally comes to an end.

The nightwatchman is caught at slip by Rikki Clarke off Jeetan Patel to give the spinner his third wicket of the innings and 69th of the season.

Warwickshire are three wickets away from safety.

  15. 100 runs

100 for Dawid Malanpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 202-3 v Yorkshire 390

Malan skips down the pitch to Azeem Rafiq and pinches a quick single to bring up his third Championship century of the summer.

The 29-year-old Londoner has looked in fine touch with 11 fours in his 203-ball knock.

Will we now see him open his shoulders?

  16. Back out at Lord'spublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 201-3 v Yorkshire 390

Dawid Malan and Steve Eskinazi make their way to the middle after lunch.

Azeem Rafiq will open up to Malan who's on 99.

This is the session where we'll finally have a better idea of who will be crowned county champions.

  17. All to play forpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 & 245-9 dec v Durham 361 & 41-0

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

What an afternoon we are in for here. Durham were set a target of 296 to win and at lunch they are 41-0. Keaton Jennings needs 81 to beat the club record of 1,601 Championship runs in a season.

He survived a massive appeal for LBW from Will Smith's first ball and is on 14 at the break, while team-mate Mark Stoneman has 27 in his last appearance for the club.

There are 63 overs remaining and Hampshire know with Lancashire in freefall a win for them will keep them up and send The Red Rose down.

It's all to play for but Durham are up for the challenge as well.

  19. Hamish Marshall's farewellpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Gloucestershire 229 & 223-5 v Sussex 435 - Lunch

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

An excellent morning for Gloucestershire who have cleared the arrears and lead by 17 at lunch

Hamish Marshall was applauded to the wicket by the Sussex players on his farewell appearance, and  has batted imperiously, a straight six down the ground being the shot of the morning

The new ball is due in 12 overs and that may well hold the key to the outcome of this match

Lunch here is traditional Chilli Con Carne not sure how it differs from normal Chilli Con Carne, whatever it's very nice!
