    Hampshire 411 & 245-9 dec v Durham 361

The relegation picture suddenly becomes a little clearer.

Hampshire declare and set Durham 296 to win in a minimum of 78 overs.

James Vince's side need to win to guarantee their safety with Lancashire in trouble at Edgbaston.

We're in for a thrilling two sessions and a bit on the south coast.

Mike Heal: If Lancashire win and Hampshire draw, who goes down out of Hampshire and Warwickshire? Madly doing the maths!

Hampshire and Warwickshire would finish level on points, but Warwickshire would go down because they've lost more games.

WICKET Hameed (c Clarke b Wright) 27published at 11:25 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-7 dec v Lancashire 152 & 51-4

That's a big blow for Lancashire's survival chances. Haseeb Hameed is caught by Rikki Clarke at slip off Chris Wright and the Red Rose are four down.

Nightwatchman Simon Kerrigan is digging in - he's four off 68 balls - but a Hampshire win coupled with a Lancashire defeat sends Lancashire down.

  4. CLOSE!published at 11:24 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 131-2 v Yorkshire 390

Dawid Malan tries to cut Steven Patterson away but the ball flies off an edge and past a diving Adam Lyth at third slip.

As usually happens, just to make the big fast bowler even angrier, he clips him through mid-wicket for four a couple of deliveries later.

Malan is up to 68 - Middlesex's lead is 11.

  6. Sidebottom into the attackpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 120-2 v Yorkshire 390

Ryan Sidebottom is about to bowl for the first time this morning.

He'll give it his all. He always does. He already has a big grin on his face - I'm not sure the 38-year-old feels tension.

Nick Gubbins picks up a single off his second ball and the scores are level.

  7. Lancashire solid so farpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-7 dec v Lancashire 152 & 49-3

Needing to bat out the day to ensure their first division status Lancashire have been largely untroubled against the Warwickshire seamers so far on an increasingly slow pitch.

Nightwatchman Simon Kerrigan has survived comfortably and Haseeb Hameed looks as though he could bat all day on his own.

Warwickshire had to turn to spinner Jeetan Patel within half an hour and the country's top wicket taker can expect to be busy from here on in.

  8. wicket

WICKET McManus (c Richardson b Pringle) 67published at 11:12 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Hampshire 441 & 218-9 v Durham 361

Durham spinner Ryan Pringle picks up his seventh wicket of the innings as Lewis McManus nicks him behind.

Hampshire's advantage is 268. Will it be enough? Last man Brad Wheal joins Gareth Berg in the middle.

  9. 50 runs

50 for Nick Gubbinspublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 116-2 v Yorkshire 390

Nick Gubbins is some batsman. The 22-year-old goes to his ninth Championship half-century of the summer with a sweet drive through point off Tim Bresnan.

That's 1,365 runs and counting so far this season for Gubbins.

  10. Rogers thrilled with Somerset beliefpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

Watch: Retiring captain Chris Rogers discusses Somerset's performance.

Somerset captain Chris Rogers announced he will not be returning to the county next season following their win against Nottinghamshire yesterday.

The former Australia opener, 39, told BBC Points West momentum carried his side through to a strong finish to the season, which could end in them being crowned champions later today.

    Middlesex 270 & 110-2 v Yorkshire 390

His four to go to fifty was streaky, but that's as easy as they come.

Dawid Malan flicks a leg-side delivery from Jack Brooks down to the fine-leg boundary.

It's a decent crowd in at Lord's today - I understand it was only a fiver to get in. That's less than a pint in London these days isn't it?

  12. 50 runs

50 for Dawid Malanpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 105-2 v Yorkshire 390

Dawid Malan brings up his half-century but in fortunate circumstances.

Tim Bresnan, who's been probing all morning, finds an edge but the ball bounces down and through the keeper and first slip to the ropes.

Middlesex are now just 15 in arrears.

  13. The relegation battlepublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Warwickshire 219 & 279-7 dec v Lancashire 152 & 43-3

It's been a solid first 30 minutes for Lancashire pair Haseeb Hameed and nightwatchman Simon Kerrigan with Warwickshire unable to make further inroads.

A draw would keep Lancashire in the division, but would send Warwickshire down if Hampshire beat Durham.

I can't wait to stop using the word 'if'.

    Middlesex 270 & 99-2 v Yorkshire 390

I mentioned earlier the weather was set fair in the capital - it looks absolutely stunning out there.

Meanwhile Tim Bresnan is continuing to bustle in. He beats Dawid Malan outside the off stump with a ball that keeps low. Maybe a bit of uneven bounce will help this game along.

  15. Textbook from Malanpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 96-2 v Yorkshire 390

That's a thing of beauty from Dawid Malan. The Middlesex batsman caresses Jack Brooks through the covers to move to 47.

Middlesex trail by just 24 now. Are they still in with a chance of winning the title? Set Yorkshire 200 off 30 overs maybe?

  16. 50 runs

50 for Lewis McManuspublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 & 187-8 v Durham 361

Hampshire's wicketkeeper reaches his second half-century of the summer off 68 balls. And what a crucial one it's been.

Surely the hosts will be looking to gain a lead of at least 275 at the Ageas Bowl.

They're 236 ahead with two wickets remaining.

  17. CLOSE!published at 10:46 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 92-2 v Yorkshire 390

That's an absolute jaffa from Tim Bresnan. The all-rounder gets one to just move away from Nick Gubbins and beats him all ends up.

Okay, the Adam Lyth 'experiment' hasn't lasted long. Jack Brooks is coming on.

Tom Beach: Guessing Lyth on to encourage Middlesex to go hard at him and therefore bring mistake?

Callum Leary: Looks like the 'sucker punch' tatic from Yorkshire by bowling Lyth just like Joe Root in the WT20 FINAL. Look how that ended

  19. Four for Gubbinspublished at 10:41 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Middlesex 270 & 88-2 v Yorkshire 390

You don't bowl there to Nick Gubbins. The Middlesex opener, in prime form, clips Tim Bresnan off his pads to the mid-wicket fence.

Super shot - Gubbins is six short of his half-century.

Meanwhile Adam Lyth continues. I'm confused.

  20. wicket

WICKET Crane (c Borthwick b Pringle) 1published at 10:39 British Summer Time 23 September 2016

    Hampshire 411 & 177-8 v Durham 361

Hampshire lose an early wicket - Mason Crane is caught at mid-on by Scott Borthwick off Ryan Pringle.

The lead stands at 227. Hampshire need to win to make sure their fate is not left in the hands of Lancashire.

The Red Rose are 34-3 at Edgbaston in pursuit of 347.
