    Warwickshire 89-2 (22.2 overs) v Surrey 136

Stuart Meaker punches the air with delight as he digs in a short ball at Ian Bell and Warwickshire's captain can only glove an attempted hook shot to the leaping wicketkeeper. Will that spark a flurry of wickets? Surrey fans hope so - because they're running out of runs, so to speak.

Gareth Batty certainly isn't carrying the threat that Warwickshire spinners Jeetan Patel and Ateeq Javid did earlier, but if they'd been bowling in this position, they would probably have found it tough too.  Four off the over.

    Warwickshire 85-1 (21 overs) v Surrey 136

Jonathan Trott misses out as he fails to beat the backward point fielder with a square cut as Stuart Meaker returns to the attack. A push down the ground and an outside edge to third man add two to his score, though, and it's time for a quick drinks break.

Remember that Jade Dernbach hit the game's only six so far - will we seen another before we finish?

There is an air of inevitability about what is happening out there in the middle. Warwickshire are rolling along at four an over without breaking sweat. Gareth Batty tries his luck around the wicket, but the defensive technique of the two England batsmen is tighter than an overwrapped Christmas present.

Textbook Trott. Exactly what the team would want out of him so far.

    Warwickshire 79-1 (19 overs) v Surrey 136

And there it is - Jonathan Trott reaches a 62-ball half-century with a single. It's come as easy as you like and it's the fifth time he's passed fifty in seven innings in this year's One-Day Cup.

    Warwickshire 74-1 (18 overs) v Surrey 136

Jonathan Trott nudges down to mid-on for a single and he's now only one run short of a half-century.

Only two from the over but Warwickshire are beyond half-way to their target now. Only a collective brainstorm could deprive them of the trophy now, surely.

Is this Surrey's last throw of the dice? Here comes captain Gareth Batty with his off-spin. If nothing else, he will command a measure of respect from the two Warwickshire batsmen. Or perhaps not - Jonathan Trott's fine reverse sweep brings him four runs, takes him onto 45 not out, and he is the game's highest scorer.

This situation is perfectly made for Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell.

There seems little sign of Surrey running through the Warwickshire batting line-up at the moment. Three more singles are added to the score. If cakes were animate objects, they'd be strolling round the boundary.

Tom Curran comes in for his third over. The Warwickshire batsmen are content to trade singles as four come from the over. Absolutely no need to rush.

Zafar Ansari, seen here celebrating his side's first wicket, like Warwickshire's spinners earlier in the day, is getting the ball to grip a little. There's also a hint of drift through the air, but the final delivery is outside leg stump and Jonathan Trott is able to deflect it away on the full for three.

Warwickshire captain Ian Bell is the new batsman and after Jonathan Trott takes a single off Tom Curran, he strokes the ball away through the covers for an effortless opening boundary. Glorious technique, glorious timing - when he gets it right, Bell is superb to watch.

"If Warwickshire win this, will it be their first one-day trophy win in six years, or the Bears' first limited-over trophy win in two years?

"They were good old, plain old Warwickshire when they beat Somerset here in the 2010 CB Trophy.

"But they were the Birmingham Bears when they won the T20 in 2014."

    WICKET Hain (c S Curran b Aansari) 12published at 14:47 British Summer Time 17 September 2016

    Warwickshire 45-1 (11 overs) v Surrey 136

Just the one over from Stuart Meaker as Gareth Batty turns to Zakar Ansari's left-arm spin from the Pavilion End. Jonathan Trott dribbles his opening delivery away for three, but the change pays off as Sam Hain reverse sweeps and is caught. Surrey's first wicket went down at 45 too.

    Warwickshire 40-0 (10 overs) v Surrey 136

Jonathan Trott dabs down into the off-side and the two Warwickshire batsmen hustle through for a quick single. It's a decent over by Tom Curran, but 'decent' isn't going to get the job done for Surrey - 'inspired' is what they need in this position. The first powerplay is done.

    Warwickshire 39-0 (9 overs) v Surrey 136

A double change by Surrey and it's time for Stuart Meaker, the quickest member of the Surrey attack. He concedes a couple of singles before over-pitching on leg stump and Jonathan Trott times it through mid-wicket for four. "The writing is on the wall" says summariser Ebony Rainford-Brent on Test Match Special. It certainly is - and the letters are about six feet high.

Curran the elder - Tom - replaces Curran the younger - Sam. Warwickshire opener Sam Hain picks up a single from his first delivery and Jonathan Trott adds two through the leg-side. So far, so serene, for Warwickshire.

    Warwickshire 28-0 (7 overs) v Surrey 136

There has been nothing so far to put a doubt or two into the minds of the Warwickshire batsman. I wonder how long it will be before Gareth Batty decides to try a bit of spin, given the amount of turn found by Jeetan Patel and Ateeq Javid during the Surrey innings.

Jade Dernbach strays wide of off stump and Jonathan Trott square cuts powerfully for four. It's the only scoring stroke of the over, but Warwickshire won't care about that. Just 109 needed and all 10 wickets still intact.
