  1. Ban 221-4published at 71 overs

Can England find a breakthrough before the close? They left it late in each of the first two sessions. Stuart Broad is back but Bangladesh dig in. We are now past the scheduled end of play but it looks like we're going to continue to get through the remaining three overs.

Moeen said it was going down the leg side, Ben Stokes said he'd made it straighten... and Alastair Cook went with Moeen's judgement. It would have missed in the event, so good work from Moeen.

Huge appeal from Stokes as Shakib is rapped on the pads trying to steer the ball to leg. The umpire says no and all eyes are on Cook for a review. Moeen looks pretty adamant that the ball was going down so the skipper passes up the opportunity. The replay shows he is right.

  4. Ban 220-4published at 69 overs

    Shakib 30, Mushfiqur 48

For the first time in the match we have two seamers working in tandem. The ominous shadow across the wicket is from the scoreboard. Perhaps a metaphor for... er...

    Woakes bowls a maiden.

  6. Ban 220-4published at 68 overs

They're having a disco in Chittagong. Two of the floodlights are kicking into gear but flashing on and off. I hope they haven't channeled the power from the TMS air con to get that working.

The wicket is now entirely covered by shadow as Stokes returns to the attack as England search for some inspiration. He starts with a maiden.

I've been searching for Alastair Cook in the field all day - the reason I haven't noticed him is that he's wearing a big white floppy hat instead of a blue cap. It's funny how you get used to players wearing a certain accessory.

Shakib has set out his stall. He is certainly not going to block and look for the occasional single. He swings right around Woakes' first ball before edging the second through the absent slip area for four. Three further singles make for another expensive over.

I think I've said the word 'short' quite a lot about England's bowlers today.

  10. Ban 213-4published at 66 overs

    Eng 293

Bit of luck for Shakib. He chances his arm - that's his way - with a little dance down and swing to Moeen which sends the ball looping away to third man off the outside edge. This partnership is worth 50 now.

Jonny Bairstow is standing up to Chris Woakes, which is an interesting tactic to the left-handed Shakib. He's bowling cutters.

It keeps the batsmen in his crease, although it can be off-putting for a fast bowler because you have a vision in your head of how things should be when you run up to bowl.

  12. Ban 208-4published at 65 overs

    Eng 293

It's not easy being seam. Woakes continues to charge in but the Bangladeshi pair are untroubled over the second half of the over. A minimum of nine overs remaining today. The shadows are creeping across the surface.

That must have been the first time a fast bowler has got the ball past the bat - he deserves half a review for that.

The impact was in line but the ball was just clipping the top of leg. Umpire's call. Dharmasena has got one right and affords himself a tiny smile.

Because it was a fuller delivery, and he tried to play it through the on side, I think it will be very close.

    Ban 206-4

Mushfiqur is trapped on the pad by Woakes. Umpire Dharmasena shakes his head but surely can't be surprised to see a review requested. He's going to be seeing that T-shape in his sleep.

Bangladesh are so comfortable playing against spin because that is what they are used to in their domestic competition. England have to build pressure with the dots.

  19. Ban 205-4published at 64 overs

    Eng 293

Bangladesh have reclaimed control. Mushfiqur dances down to Moeen and hits against the spin through cover for four. The same batsman scoops the ball away to fine leg for two which takes the home side past 200. Shakib is a little luckier as his attempted sweep sends a top edge over the keeper for another two. 10 off that over.

Chris Woakes is bowling a middle and leg line to Mushfiqur, clearly hoping one of those flicks into the leg side brings about a catch.
