Now, with our windows cleaned immaculately by a man with an impressively extendable pole, we will see if Rashid can emulate spin twin Moeen and take a double wicket maiden. Here is another of Yorkshire's finest, Phil Dawkes, to guide you through the remainder of the day.

So 90 runs scored in the session in 29.3 overs for the loss of just that one wicket. Batty, in his first Test since 2005, has bowled the most overs, with 0-29 from his 12 and Moeen is the most successful, 2-29 in 11.

Mahmudullah will feel he could have covered it more. He has played superbly but it might just have been a slight lapse of concentration before tea.

This one is out though, the total silence of the crowd indicates that. A classic leg-spinning delivery from Rashid, Mahmudullah prodded and Root took it inches from the turf at slip. England strike in the final session again. That signals the tea interval so Rashid will complete his over in around 20 minutes.

Even on the Ultraedge there is no squiggle and for the fifth time in the match, umpire Dharmasena has to overturn his decision. The crowd are jubilant though.

  9. Umpire reviewpublished at 09:36 British Summer Time 21 October 2016

Now then, is this an edge to slip off Moeen? It's a brilliant catch but let's see. Tamim is convinced he has not hit it but umpire Dharmasena has given it out. Let's check the evidence.

This has been a very good knock from Tamim. The role he is playing is impressive. He is vice captain and he is not showing the aggressiveness he has shown in the past. That is the way on this pitch, where runs are hard to come by.

  11. Ban 116-2published at 42 overs

    Rashid 0-26 off 7

Rashid returns and deceives Tamim with one that turns in to the left-hander as he advances, but he gets a thick edge to it that squirts down to fine-leg for a single. Then one keeps low to Mahmudullah, barely at shin height in front of the stumps, but that is also kept out.

It looks like a small crowd, with swathes of empty seats in the open areas of the stadium, but they are packed in under the stands and there is plenty of noise as Tamim collects four with a back foot punch off Moeen and reaches his half century, his fifth against England, which has come from 131 balls with six fours.

This has been a brilliant session so far for Bangladesh. There will have been alarm bells ringing during that five balls from Moeen when he took two wickets. But the home side have calmly restored order. England can't find that mistake or unplayable delivery.

Zafar Ansari on as sub fielder, with Broad briefly off the field, perhaps to check the racing results. The young Surrey left-hander would be useful with his slow left-armers here. Batty is cut for two by Mahmudullah, a diving slide from Woakes saving a boundary, impressive endeavour in this heat.

If you are England at the moment and you cant find a wicket the next best thing is to prevent Bangladesh scoring. I thought Broad bowled well with some useful leg cutters and blocked it up at one end. Batty is bowling nicely but he isn't beating the bat regularly. I wonder if he needs the long off or if it is worth offering Tamim that big shot. It might be an invitation worth offering.

  17. Ban 103-2published at 39 overs

    Tamim 48, Mahmudullah 31

A change of ends for Moeen and his first delivery surprises the right-handed Mahmudullah, spinning in sharply and bouncing. But the batsmen survive and clips the final ball through mid-wicket for two to take the stand to 74.

  18. Ban 100-2published at 38 overs

    Batty 0-25 off 11

Stokes is flexing his knee after diving in vein for the ball in the outfield. Many would have gone off the field for a cold one but not the competitive all-rounder. A steady, if not particularly penetrating over from Batty and just the single results, which brings up the 100.

No luck for Broad. There is another slight mix-up between the batsmen in mid-pitch but no real chance of a run-out. Maybe time for Joe "Golden Arm" Root?
