Joe Root is at slip and Ben Stokes close by at gully as Moeen continues, hoping for another of those magic deliveries. Not this time. Patience is a virtue, remember.

Given the pitch and the off spin/ left-arm combination used by Bangladesh, there is a strong case for opening the batting with Root to have a left hand/right hand combination to combat what will be even more difficult conditions second dig. The same would go for flexibility in middle order and where Bairstow bats.

Rashid continues the trial by spin. There is a slip, a leg gully and a short-leg all waiting expectantly but after one ball that fizzes past Tamim's outside edge the rest of the over is comfortable for the batsmen.

Moeen's Achilles heel as a spin bowler for England has been when he's played on turning pitches, so this is the perfect start for him.
Tamim 7, Mahmudullah 0
Thanks Phil. Moeen completes the over and this time there are no fireworks, Mahmudullah advancing down the wicket and playing it back to the bowler. Still, a double wicket maiden is not too shabby.
Right, I'm off for more coffee. Here is Jamie Lillywhite to talk you through the second session, starting with one ball from Moeen...
West Indies have struck early in the second Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi. Azhar Ali, who scored a triple-century in the first Test, has been bowled by Shannon Gabriel for a nine-ball duck. Pakistan are currently 12-1.
Pakistan won the first Test by 56 runs.
In case you are just waking up, here is what you have missed...
Chris Woakes was out from the first ball of the day, with England being dismissed pretty quickly for 293.
Bangladesh made a decent start but two wickets in his first over before lunch from Moeen Ali has given England a big foothold in the match.

Tony C: How people doubted Moeen I just don't know. Reliable, dependable, occasionally brilliant.
Hannah Dixie: For those who didn't wake up at 5am to hear Woakes dismissed first ball, Moeen's wickets aren't quite so sweet.
Ollie Smith: This series is a great chance for Moeen to get his confidence back. License to toss the ball up and attack.

I hope the video umpire is getting a good lunch. Their work is far from done yet.

It's going to be spin all the way, we're just seeing puffs of dust come up. Excellent from Moeen, he's got the pace right, the fizz right and just the right line. England will feel they are in the driving seat.

Things just keep getting better. Moeen takes two wickets in four balls to spin England back into this contest and the Jamie Lillywhite delivers me a coffee. After two early starts, I'm more caffeine now than man.
On TMS now is Alan Butcher, talking to Aggers about coaching Zimbabwe.

The extra pace on the ball gives it more revs and the newer ball has that bit of extra fizz so credit to Alastair Cook for putting the spinner on early.

Stuart Field: Moeen, like @Swannyg66, external but with a better beard
Ed Stockton: The Flaming Moe!
Andi: So much for all the talk about other spinners. Ali is Mr. Reliable!
And that is lunch. We are not going to be finishing the over. England won't care, though. They are firmly back in this game. Take a bow Moeen.

You've got to say Moeen Ali is England's premier off-spinner and has been for some time.

What a ball, he has actually fizzed that one through.
Mominul c Stokes b Moeen 0 (Ban 29-2)
Moeen is on fire! He has two in the over as Mominul goes back and edges the ball against keeper Bairstow and up for Ben Stokes to claim at second slip. In the space of five deliveries, Moeen has given this morning a very different complexion.
