Alastair Cook and Ben Duckett march out. It is dark out there - this will be a fun little hour or so for England to negotiate.

Things started to go wrong when Tamim, after making that hundred, left one that was on the stumps and was lbw.

Paul Roberts: Stokes, Woakes, Ali & Bairstow give England a multidimensional power that bodes well in our quest for the No 1 spot.

Rakesh Pradhan: Let's see after both teams have collapsed before we make an opinion on the game.

Ben Stokes was the one who got that England fightback underway. He found something in the pitch after lunch that the other seamers couldn't, and his accuracy had to have frustrated Bangladesh. Woakes picked up wickets with bad balls but there was a lot of good stuff in and around his wicket-taking deliveries. However, with the top of the pitch is starting to break up already, 220 could turn out to be a competitive score.

Bangladesh will be very very disappointed. Incredible comeback by England. I'm sure in the dressing room the coach will be having a few words with the boys.

Bangladesh were 171-1 and looking solid. They've lost nine wickets for 49 runs, thanks in no small part to Moeen, who walks off with 5-57. He came back after a tricky morning session to find turn and bounce, and he's put England into a superb position. He's easily been the stand-out spinner for England.

That brilliant catch by Root sums up England's fightback. As collapses go, they don't get much more dramatic than that.

What a catch! Bangladesh's last man Kamrul Islam Rabbi prods forward, and Joe Root at slip dives to his left to take a stunning catch with both hands. It's all over for the Tigers.

Nick Johnston: Good to see that we've managed to arrange a game against England of the 1990s. Eight wickets for 44 runs.

Edward Wilson: Everyone moaning 'if we play like this in India...' We are not in India yet! Different Test, let's just enjoy this one!

  10. Ban 219-9published at 63.3 overs

A rare poor ball from Moeen as the off-spinner serves up a low full toss which Taijul belts for four through mid-wicket.

And Andrew Samson points out on TMS - those runs mean Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene will retain their record for the highest percentage of a Test team's score by a single partnership (168 out of 216).

It's just been incredible. Credit to England bowlers but there have been a few poor shots, playing away from the body.

  13. Ban 215-9published at 63 overs

    Woakes 3-30

The fans in tiger facepaint are looking pretty despondent at the minute. Woakes sticks to the off-stump line, trying to draw the drive and another outside edge. Kamrul doesn't take the bait but he dangles in back in front of a nice ball that just zips away past the edge. That's a maiden.

Greg Double: In honour of Pete Burns, Moeen Ali is spinning Bangladesh right round like a record, baby.

  15. Ban 215-9published at 62 overs

    Moeen 4-52

Big appeal from Bairstow as Taijul misses a Moeen delivery, but no-one else is interested. He's really getting some turn as another one whips past the outside edge. Kamrul rehearses a perfect cover drive as Moeen collects his cap from the umpire.

  17. Ban 215-9published at 61 overs

Bangladesh have lost 9 wickets in 2 hours. They were in such control this morning. There's dark clouds gathering as Woakes continues, and Kamrul is content to leave and block as much as he can.

Joe Gray: I know this has been a great comeback, but we can't get ahead of ourselves. India will provide much sterner opposition.

Harry O'Haye: Eng gave Ban 150 run start from poor bowling. One session doesn't make it OK. Give India 150 run start- they are in trouble.

This is poor stuff, no foot movement whatsoever. You just feel with Bangladesh they are not sure of the gameplan, they're not sure whether to attack or how to play the spinning ball.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 60.4 overs

    Shakib c Bairstow b Woakes 10 (Ban 216-9)

Oh, Shakib. What a horrid shot. Very much the senior partner now, he turns down a single to protect Taijul. Woakes spears the next one wide, Shakib chases it and it's a pretty simple catch for Bairstow. Not an inch of foot movement from Shakib there, and he swishes his bat in annoyance as he walks off.
