hlc1221: Dharmasena must be hating this series. Normally a top quality umpire but such a high % of wrong decisions is pretty poor.

Lord Greystoke: Umpire Dharmasena's confidence must be shot.

    Moeen 4-52

Well, I wasn't expecting this when Bangladesh were 171-1. Stokes and Moeen have dragged England back into this. Moeen's improved his control in this second stint, and he's finding that turn.

Mehedi has gone for the sweep - not ideal, given how Moeen has turned the ball - but is it pitching in line? Yes it is, and it's hitting. Another decision by Umpire Dharmasena is overturned, and another Bangladesh batsman is forced to leave the field.

Moeen spins one back into Mehedi and ooh, is that a drop? Yes it is - it was low to Cook's ankle, but Cook can't cling on. Then there's a huge shout for lbw. Moeen's convinced, and we're having a review.

There's no doubt that if you're Woakes watching that spell from Stokes it will fire you up and think there is something there for you.

Clare Harris: Rather than moaning about poor selection & bowling in first session, why not wait til end of match. Test cricket at its best!

  7. Ban 213-7published at 59 overs

Shakib was ticking at the start of the over. He's itching to play an Iqbal-style innings but he hasn't got his timing right yet. Woakes continues with his off stump line, trying to tempt the new man Mehedi into a drive. He's perilously close to an lbw but a thick inside edge saves him, as Woakes covers his face with his arms.

You didn't feel like Hom was going to stay around for long, very little footwork. He gave it a good old swipe and a good take by Bairstow. It stayed quite low and he had to maintain his shape. Now you feel Bangladesh have left this game wide open.

Woakes strikes again! It's not the best ball he's bowled - in fact it's pretty wide - but Hom throws the kitchen sink at it and edges through to Bairstow. That's a good take from the wicketkeeper too, down low to his right.

Moeen will continue twirling away, trying to turn the ball into the right-handers. He beats Hom with an absolute beauty that skids past the bat. Ooh, is that a drop? Hom middles one into Ballance's knee at short leg and, despite his best efforts, he can't snaffle the rebound. Insult is then added to injury as Hom drives gloriously for four.

Ceri Fowler: So basically the ideal team for England in India is 9 X Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and someone to keep wicket.

  13. Ban 206-6published at 57 overs

Woakes will get us underway after tea, looking to emulate his rhyming buddy Stokes. Shakib tickles a single off his hip but Woakes mixes up his length. Full, short, full keeps the batsmen from rotating the strike.

Howard Chapman: Lots of panicky selections on here but you just can't write this England side off so quickly, so resilient.

Jonathan France: What is it that Geoffrey Boycott says: You can't win a Test in a session but you can damn well lose one. Bangladesh in tatters.

Now, we've seen five quick wickets fall, can England wrap up the tail and make a steady start to their reply? Or, as so often in this series, will there be further twists of fortune? Here's Amy Lofthouse to tell you.

Elliot Barker: Turned off TMS to go into my lecture. Bangladesh immediately collapse. I'm taking credit for this.

Mike Bell: Oh, England are terrible. India will score 800. Our bowlers are so poor. Yardy yardy yah. Oh hang on, GREAT bowling from England.

Simon Howe: So all the professional moaners from the first session have had to crawl back under their rocks.

It's all very well resting Broad and Batty, but when will they rest Stokes?

Vic Marks adds: He's currently England's best bowler and best batsman, but there should be games when they don't need to bowl him as much.

Antony Molinari: People constantly question Moeen as a spinner and yet he takes more wickets than the so-called spinners.

Tim Mugford: A bit like football when half-time comes too early. Has tea come too early for England? Great session!

Tom Davies: Brilliant afternoon's response from England. No single selection of 11 always the right pick, we've got a decent touring party!
