He's played lovely, not looked in any trouble. It's one of his better innings. Full marks to him. He's a good cricketer.
Moeen one short of century after sparkling knock

Root 96, Moeen 51
A ninth Test fifty for Moeen from 99 balls, reached with a typically stylish drive through the covers off Ashwin for two. His first against India, the fifth time in his last nine innings he has got to a half-century.

The pitches are usually good. They do turn eventually, but not at the start. Not a lot has gone right for India. Three catches down, some mis-fields here and there, then one of the seamers go down. It's a huge opportunity for England.
Root 96, Moeen 49
Yadav bustles in and a near yorker is clipped away by the in-form Root, a mis-field on the fine-leg boundary allowing him to come through for a second and putting him within four of his century.
Both teams have used one unsuccessful review so they each have only one remaining for the 16 overs until the second new ball, when they will receive a fresh set of two.
So 107 runs added in 31.3 overs in that session, 64 bowled in the day thus far. Might we get a century of overs in? England fans will hope there is a century for Joe Root. He needs another seven and he has played superbly, but he had an escape on 92. The ball was clipping leg stump but umpire Dharmasena gave it not out so it went down as umpire's call.
Thanks Stephan, although I'd like to stress I was not present for that final day in Bangladesh. Some county news for you and my local county Sussex have signed South Africa all-rounder Stiaan van Zyl, who has played 12 Tests for the Proteas, on a three-year deal. More on that here.
I've presided over a wicketless session and it is now time to hand over the reins. Here's Jamie Lillywhite for the evening-session collapse.
James Anderson on Sky Sports: "At first we thought the fourth Test was a possibility but the way I have progressed has been positive and I am just hopeful I can get used to the heat quite quickly. At the tender age of 34 I have enough experience to get into match mode quite quickly.
"I'm delighted I can be here for Stuart's 100th Test. He's been a fantastic bowler for years. I have been fortunate great friendship on and off the field, we've got a good connection, we get each other."
First ODI, Colombo
A good start from England openers Tammy Beaumont and Lauren Winfield as the tourists chase 169 to win the first one-day international in Colombo.
They are 25-0 after five overs with Beaumont on 10 and Winfield 13.
Sri Lanka managed 168-7 from their 50 overs.

Injured England bowler James Anderson on Sky Sports: "I had a good week at Loughborough last week and got a few overs under my belt and hopefully I can keep that going this week and maybe I'll be fit for the second Test.
"I'm sure in the next two or three days we'll have an idea if that's a possibility or not."
Joe Root and Moeen Ali shared an unbroken century partnership as England reached 209-3 at tea on the first day of the first Test against India in Rajkot.
Having lost three wickets before lunch things didn’t look good, but Root’s 93 and Moeen’s 48 have helped to turn around England’s fortunes before tea.
Before lunch, captain Alastair Cook was out lbw for 21, Ben Duckett caught for 13 and teenage debutant Haseeb Hameed impressed with 31 from 82 balls.

Three Lion Whip: Hard luck on that review - certainly backs up the point they shouldn't lose a review for that
Luke Kellett: That was too close to call! Come on Root, make that count
Kev Lennon: Certainly a much better than our last 2nd session in test cricket when we lost all 10 wicket to Bangladesh

An excellent session, batting is a different kettle of fish than it was in Bangladesh. It has been a traditional Indian wicket where if you get in there are runs to be scored. England were just wilting at lunch and it could have gone either way but this pair has been very calm. Sometimes when you are on a pitch you trust you actually play fewer shots, thinking there is no way they can get you out.
The end of a wonderful session for England. They have added 107 runs without losing a wicket. Joe Root is closing in on a century, 93 not out, while Moeen Ali is unbeaten on 48. India have lost Mohammed Shami to a dodgy hamstring and have barely created a chance. Whodda thunk it?

Why is it so empty? I thought India loved their cricket.
Ken, Newcastle
This, taken from Jonathan Agnew's pre-match column, might explain things Ken...
"Everything about the stadium in Rajkot is impressive - the nets and facilities are outstanding.
"However it's 15 miles out of town and that will mean people won't come to watch it - how are they supposed to get out here? That aside, it's a well-appointed stadium."
More on that here.
R Ashwin to bowl the final over before tea. England will scarcely believe how well this session has gone.

He bowls with pace, Yadav. He got that little bit of reverse swing twice in that over.

Umpire Dharmasena almost thought about going for a high five, it's the first time he has had a decision upheld for a while.
Eng 207-3
Breathe, Joe Root. Umpire's call for impact on the leg stump. Definite signs of reverse, mind. Watch this space.
