  1. Ind 73-1published at 26 overs

    Eng 537

England's spin consultant is Saqlain Mushtaq, who took 208 Test wickets in 49 matches for Pakistan and it seemed like millions in county cricket for Surrey. He watches on from the balcony with a mug of tea and sees Moeen return a maiden.

  3. Ind 73-1published at 25 overs

    Eng 537

The new batsman is Cheteshwar Pujara, who averages 66 in India but half that outside of his home country. He gets off the mark in some style with a flowing cover drive to the boundary.

His legs were all over the place. It's the first chance for a while for an Indian batsman to use DRS, but he's decided to walk off.

    Gambhir lbw b Broad 29 (Ind 68-1)

What a start for Broad in his 100th Test. First ball of the day is full and Gambhir, without a century now for 53 innings, gets his feet in a tangle like a novice on Strictly Come Dancing and is hit in front of middle stump. The batsmen decide against a review and he trudges off.

England want a tidy start to the day - they don't want to appear too dozy.

  8. Ind 68-0published at 24 overs

    Eng 537

Moeen sends one down the legside and Jonny Bairstow cannot get a glove on it as it trickles away to the boundary for four byes.

England's players have poppies embroidered discreetly on their collars. No Fifa dictates here. It will be Moeen to begin proceedings, there is a cheer from the schoolchildren in the crowd and the spinner will bowl to Gautam Gambhir.

India will resume 474 runs behind at 63-0. Their openers looked in no trouble in compiling 63-0 from 23 overs last night, but Moeen Ali says it is the spinners who will be most dangerous for England, so which of himself, Adil Rashid and Zafar Ansari can conjure out the Indian batsman today?
