I don't think that Stokes and Cook will be too keen on scampering a whole host of twos.

Mishra is round the wicket. India haven't got a fielder in Cook's district. The ball is turning into the left-hander's pads. When a single is taken, India have a short leg for Stokes. Brave. Then again, when Stokes is playing these double-jointed reverse-sweeps for four, short leg is merely a spectator with an excellent view.

The general speculation is that England will declare when the lead is 310-350.

The players are back out there. Amit Mishra has the ball, Alastair Cook on strike.

Coal miners used to have to pay a man to "knock them up" by knocking their windows to make sure they didn't miss a shift. Getting to a cricket ground for a 9.30 start is a doddle by comparison.
Thanks, JL. I had you down as a David Gray fan. I've had an eye on that McGregor fight. These UFC chaps are double hard, but wear ridiculous shorts. As far as I can tell, it was a lot of cuddling, followed by some slobberknocker punches, all inside a modified trampoline.
We've had the UFC on during the lunch break. Conor McGregor has done it again. It's a bit brutal for me though, I like rom coms and soul music. But I'm hopeful of some batting fireworks in this afternoon session and here's Stephan Shemilt to tell you all about it.

Sophia: What a lovely young man Haseeb Hameed is. I hope he'll open the England batting for many years.
BBC Test Match Special
The Daily Mirror's Dean Wilson: If you can't get excited about a young talent like that Hameed who puts in a performance like that, then what's the point? How lucky is English cricket at the moment to have Cook, Root and now Hameed? Let's enjoy it.
Eng 211-2 (lead by 260)
It's been steady accumulation this morning from England, who began the day on 114-0 (leading by 163). Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed pushed their opening stand to 180 but when England started to up the scoring rate after the drinks break, young debutant Hameed eventually gave a return catch to Amit Mishra, although the delivery was close to being a no-ball.
Though Joe Root (4) came and went quickly, captain Cook forged his way to his 30th Test century, while the promotion of Ben Stokes above Ben Duckett suggests the tourists are after quick runs to set up a declaration during the afternoon session.

The Sun's John Etheridge: Hameed has poise, balance and footwork. His technique if from the old school. He plays straight and stays side on. He plays in the way that most of use were taught to bat.

Cricinfo's George Dobell: I think there is a possibility they will go for it. England's best chance of that is the Indian hubris, they want to destroy England and I can see Kohli having a pop. People here expect this to be easy, they expect England to get a pasting. There is a hell of a lot of expectation on Kohli.
BBC Test Match Special
John Etheridge of the Sun: There's no chance of India going for the runs. I'd be amazed if Cook dangled any sort of carrot anyway. But I think there will be men round the bat and the chance of creating a few jitters.

Dean Wilson of the Daily Mirror: India haven't got a Virender Sehwag at the top of their order to get them going in a runchase. England have promoted Stokes, but you don't know if he will be able to get it out of the screws. A huge win for England would just be to get Kohli out cheaply. He's desperate to get a score against England, but keeping him down would be huge for this series.

Ralph Brooker: Alastair Cook. Chef. Boss. Gaffer. Choirmaster. Earl of Essex.
Andrew Pitt: What an example to the younger players. Bravo Sir.
BBC Test Match Special
Cricinfo's George Dobell: They are going to declare, they have clearly decided. Personally I would bat on, the next match is in three days. But it is going to be really hard to win out here and maybe they have to go for it.
BBC Test Match Special
Daily Mirror's Dean Wilson: Players like Haseeb Hameed, Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes had never played a Test in India before. Now they know they can do it - it's a massive boost for England even if they don't win this match.
