It will be a question as to why it took England so long to get Moeen on yesterday, but they were facing two right-handers in Kohli and Pujara so were looking to the bowlers that take the ball away from the bat.

Stokes, already a fetching shade of red, is going to have his first bowl of the day. Ashwin and Yadav trade singles before Stokes bangs in a short ball that reaches elbow-height on Ashwin. Stokes dances over the ball before Ashwin adds another to the total. There's plenty of schoolkids in the crowd again today.

  3. Ind 389-7published at 113 overs

Moeen mixes up his lengths before getting one to turn into Yadav. He plays it late, though, and with the spin, to shovel it down to fine leg for a couple of runs. Moeen recovers with a half-hearted appeal for lbw from his final delivery.

  5. Ind 387-7published at 112 overs

Yadav misses out on a full toss from Rashid but the next ball is very short and Yadav late-cuts it to the boundary. Rashid brings him forward for the rest of the over and Yadav sees it out with a solid defensive block. Rashid's gone for 101 runs from his 33 wicketless overs so far.

The pitch is starting to break up so quickly. What is it going to be like in a day or so? First-innings runs are going to be so crucial.

  7. Ind 381-7published at 111 overs

Ashwin spears another short ball off the back foot to take a couple off Moeen, before padding past Stokes' at slip for leg byes. That's a half volley from Moeen, and it's not got the treatment it should have. Ashwin had a big swing but hit more dirt than ball. He's forced to settle for a single. Yadav gets forward to block out the over.

It's got very little to commend it, that. In the parlance of the modern game it's two greens and an orange. That doesn't win you much. It's a poor review from England, who got a little excited.

Yadav had his bat and pad very close together, but it definitely struck the pad first. Impact outside the line, however, and it's missing the stumps. So it'll stay not out. Probably not the best review England have ever made. Rashid rounds off the over with a full ball that means Ashwin will face Moeen.

He's a long way down here and could be outside the line.

Rashid strikes Yadav on the pad, but it's given not out. Cook makes the T sign, and it's going upstairs.

Moeen is England's most dangerous spinner. He's quick through the air, he gives it a good rip and, if there's anything there, he's likely to find it. He had a poor day yesterday, but was also poorly handled.

Moeen's still finding turn but Yadav is quick on a short ball. He dances onto the back foot and drives through mid-wicket for four, despite Root's spirited chase. The next ball is short again and it's cracked away off the back foot for a single. Moeen just needs to watch his lengths.

England women are closing in on a 4-0 one-day series whitewash over Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Sri Lanka, who could not start their pursuit of 241 because of rain on Thursday, have slipped to 30-4 on the reserve day today.

England, who booked their place at the 2017 World Cup by winning the second ODI, made 240-9 thanks to Nat Sciver's 77 and Dani Hazell's 45.

Rashid gets one to turn. In fact Yadav, on strike after Ashwin nabbed a single from the first ball, did well to get bat on that. I don't like it when it turns. It makes me dread England's innings. Rashid keeps going full, aiming for the rough in front of Yadav, but he defends everything away.

  16. Ind 365-7published at 107 overs

Moeen tosses the ball up into Jayant's eyeline, trying to get him on the drive. He's not playing, though, and defends everything. Moeen pushes the field back, offering the single - England will want Rashid to have a bowl at the new batsman - but Jayant is stoic in defence. Back to back maidens for England's spinners.

Rashid will continue and Ashwin drives his first delivery uppishly. That brings about some ooh's from behind the stumps, so he contents himself with defending and leaving the rest of the over. That'll be a maiden.

Thank goodness for Moeen, because England were looking bedraggled.

Ah. Had Jadeja reviewed that decision, it would have been overturned. Hawkeye says it's spinning past leg. That didn't look to have turned a great deal. Ashwin, meanwhile, continues and pats out the rest of the over.
