It was round the wicket and it needed to have straightened. The game is moving quickly. The groundsman told me it was to turn at lunchtime - it might have happened an hour early.

Jadeja lbw Moeen 0 (Ind 363-7)

Well now. Moeen welcomes Jadeja with one that fizzes past his leg stump, before his second delivery cannons into the front of the pad. Jadeja was stretching forward, missed it and it's hit him in front of middle and leg. Dharmasena raises the finger, Jadeja has a brief consultation with Ashwin before wandering off. The good news for England's spinners is that Moeen's turning it. The batsmen might think differently.

Saha lbw Moeen 3 (Ind 363-6)

Out. That ball has turned a long way and Saha was deep in his crease. It's struck him on the back foot and he's been giving his marching orders. Two wickets for Moeen this morning, then, after a testing day yesterday.

    What chaos, absolute mayhem.

  6. India reviewpublished at 104.2 overs

    Ind 363-5

What a mess - Moeen has a big appeal against Saha for lbw, Dharmasena takes an age to give it out, all while Saha and Ashwin are engaging in some terrible running. Anyway, Saha's reviewed the decision.

My four days and 48 hours are done for the week... so you'd think today I'd be catching up on sleep? Not a chance - my body clock has woken me up at 4.26am and now listening hoping our boys can wrap up India's first innings.

  8. drinks break

    Ind 363-5published at 104 overs

Saha, after that heave at Moeen, has stayed relatively quiet. Even he can't let a leg side loosener from Rashid go by as he runs it off the face of the bat towards the boundary. Ansari, zipping around, does well to knock the ball away from the rope and save a couple of runs. That's too short from Rashid but Saha's attempted pull doesn't have any venom in it, and he scampers a single.

    And that will be drinks.

India have to bat for 600, make England tired. They have to bat for as long as they can while the pitch is good.

  10. Ind 360-5published at 103 overs

Moeen continues with a fuller line, before Ashwin drives a quicker delivery for four. Really nice shot, that. Ashwin just watched it come towards him and played it as late as he could. Moeen slows it down and Ashwin comes forward to defend.

Ashwin clearly rates Saha more than Geoffrey as he takes a single from Rashid's first delivery. Saha settles down, coming forward and jabbing the bat down on the rest of the over.

Saha batted like a clown in the last Test, jumping down the pitch. His dismissal in the second innings was horrid. I'd like a bowl at him.

  14. Ind 355-5published at 101 overs

India pick up four byes as Moeen whizzes one through Saha's forward defense. He rounds off an eventful over with a big old heave at Moeen, missing the ball entirely and hitting fresh air. Cook has his hands on his head in disbelief.

That was a pretty decent catch, not straightforward. The first one was more catchable. Moeen tossed it up, Kohli was playing a drive off the front and it went quickly. If I was him I'd be saying "I let him get a single because I knew I'd catch the next one".

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 100.2 overs

    Kohli c Stokes b Moeen 167 (Ind 351-5)

Well, that's one way to make amends for a drop. Moeen tosses it up, Kohli tries to drive him and the balls flies off the edge towards Stokes. Stokes watches low into his hands before thudding it into the ground and exchanging an aggressive high-five with Bairstow. A brilliant innings from the India captain comes to an end.

Ashwin dropped on 17published at 100.1 overs

Stokes has dropped Ashwin! He shaped to cut Moeen but it was far too close and it flew to Stokes at slip. It hit went through his hands and hit him on his left knee.

England would have got runs on this. I'd have been amazed if they didn't. It would have had to been a terrible batting performance.

  19. Ind 350-4published at 100 overs

Double spin as Rashid replaces Broad. Ashwin comes forward and drives a single to bring up India's 350. England already look distinctly unchirpy about the prospect of a long day in the field. That's good from Rashid, a quicker one that slides off Kohli's inside edge and onto his pad. Rashid mixes up his lines to round off a tight over.
