If England can get Kohli out in Mohali, there are not many other players in great form. Pujara is playing well, but England will feel they can keep him quiet.

Ravindra Jadeja joins Virat Kohli at the crease, and gets off the mark with a fortuitous inside edge that sneaks past the stumps. There's some momentary concern for Kohli, who jars his arm trying to run his bat into the crease, but he waves away the physio. 73 not out is probably a better healer than a sip of water.

What a morning for England. They've picked up three wickets, but they will also know that the pitch is doing more than it has done. Jadeja has got a lot of work to do - England will really fancy having a pop at him.

Umpire's call. He's on his way. So England have snared three wickets this morning. Virat Kohli leans on his bat then voices his displeasure to the drinks carrier, who has nipped onto the field.

I'm amazed how few India players are reading Rashid's googly. It's an obvious one. Only height will save him here.

Adil Rashid's struck! India can't read his googly, and Saha has been struck flush on the pad. Dharmasena gives him out lbw, but Virat Kohli convinces him to review it.

Prashant Kunnath: Stuart Broad. What a performance! One of most resilient cricketers today. He would want to play the next game.

Stuart Broad had taken four Test wickets in India prior to this match. Now he's managed four in one innings. He'll be desperate to play in the next Test, but that foot is definitely causing him some discomfort. There's a wince every time he walks back to his mark. It's not scientifically proven, but wrap him in cotton wool and England might have a shot at keeping him in the side.

That a little cutter, the fingers going down the left-hand side of the ball. There's not a great deal of movement, just a feather through to Bairstow. It's been brilliant from Broad. This game is moving forward fast.

Four wickets for Stuart Broad, all of which he's managed on one leg. He convinces Ashwin to have a little flutter away from his body, and Jonny Bairstow snaffles the edge behind the stumps. Ashwin will have to trudge off.

Virat Kohli started this series with 322 runs at an average of 20.12 against England. He has already doubled that tally in the first two Tests of this series.

Virat Kohli's running partner woes continue, as Ashwin is late to respond to the call for a single. Kohli was always coming down and Ashwin, eventually, made his ground. He gets a royal ticking off from his captain in response. Ashwin then narrowly avoids having his off peg removed as he messes up an attempted scoop, completely missing the ball, which bounces into Jonny Bairstow's pads.

There it is, a massive inside edge onto Ashwin's pad. Rod Tucker has to swing his arms around and reverse the decision, while Alastair Cook stomps off.

It looks like he's got a big inside edge.

Now then. Rod Tucker has given Ashwin out, lbw to Stuart Broad, but Ashwin's certain he's got an inside edge on that. Upstairs we go.

This is Stuart Broad's best bowling performance in India. He'd never before taken more than one wicket in an innings in four previous Tests. He had 4-446 in India before this innings.

  18. Ind 124-4published at 40 overs

    Ashwin 6, Kohli 71

Adil Rashid is going to replace James Anderson, which is a bold move. The theory is Ravichandran Ashwin prefers facing pace. Having said that, he's leathered Rashid for four, dancing down the pitch and smashing the ball back past the bowler. Rashid got a hand to it but that would have been a catch of ridiculous proportions, if he'd managed it.

Karl Bates, if you need a puppy sitter, I am more than happy to oblige. Dogs and cricket are my favourite thing, hence why day one was so brilliant. Stuart Broad rounds off the over with a decent delivery that new man Ravichandran Ashwin punches into the covers.

That popped from nowhere. If it had been Kohli there wouldn't have been a catcher there. It climbed at Rahane like a fast leg-break. In one sense that's good for England. In another, it's not good news.
