The game is over. India have blown England away - they've had a wonderful session. It's like playing chess and you've got no pieces left - you're just delaying the inevitable.
England have lost five wickets for 55 runs this morning. An already steep mountain has got that bit higher. 263 is the target but the main thing is there's a minimum of 57 overs left. That's an awful lot of blocking.
Target 405
Bairstow's not going down without a fight. Shami strays onto the pads and Bairstow can't resist helping that one around the corner for four. Shot! A deliberate steer down to the third man boundary for four. And that will be lunch.

India have made it happen today. They have had the tenacity, the strength of character and mind.
Bairstow 15, Ansari 0
When a sweep shot goes right, it looks brilliant. Bairstow proves that point with another gloriously thudded shot that flies to the boundary. Jayant responds with one that bounces viciously up to rap him on the glove. A misfield from Shami allows Bairstow to get down the other end, but he'll be facing the fired up pace bowler in the next over.

Anyone for Ian Bell at 4? Although not sure he has played any cricket in a couple of months, but then again Buttler hasn't either.

Shami has been great today. He had the number on Root and he's mixed up his pace nicely. Zafar Ansari comes to the crease, and is greeted with a short ball that he has to weave under.

Wonderful bowling. It was quick and short - a lot of pace. It wasn't a great shot. It's almost as if it was a waft - a nothingness about it. Rashid wasn't expecting it.
Rashid c Saha b Shami 4 (Eng 129-7)
Ah. Not great from Rashid, but that is great bowling from Shami. His first ball was a yorker, clipped for four. This one was short and Rashid threw a half-hearted cut at it. There was never enough power behind it and it's been snaffled up by the keeper.
Bairstow 10, Rashid 0
Pathetic is harsh, is it not? I enjoyed that resistance from Cook and Hameed yesterday. I think they let India bowl at them this morning, but looking down at that pitch, that's understandable. Nice from Bairstow though; a powerful swepe for four, then a slam through midwicket, forcing Jayant to change his line.

Daniel Reed: Step back from England today, yes 5th day pitch, but you can't just block all day. Always be one with your name on it. Pathetic.
Shami is steaming in from the wonderfully named Dr Vizzy End. England have lost four wickets for 30 runs this morning. They're now in the thick of some seriously aggressive fielding to content with. Backward point pings the ball in to the stumps, and Bairstow has to duck and angle to avoid the ball.

Rashid joins Bairstow at the crease. Root's face when he reviewed that decision was one of utter resignation. He knew. He lasted 107 deliveries but he was dropped by Kohli this morning and Shami had the number on him in that over. Four wickets for India, now.

He got on the wrong line. Being brutally honest, it wasn't one of his most auspicious innings. He's played and missed, he could have been caught and he hasn't looked great.
Root lbw Shami 25 (Eng 115-6)
Not a chance, Joseph. That's thudding into off stump. A wicket that's come about thanks to a superb over from Shami. He unsettled Root with some extra bounce; Root threw loose drives and lost his balance several times in that over.

You wonder if that is almost in desperation.

It looked out. He got his foot too far over.
Root's out! Lbw to Shami after a belting over. He's reviewed, reluctantly...
