When you get something wrong, put your hand and say you made a mistake. Duckett didn't cut it; Ballance didn't cut it. Two young kids have done exceptionally well - so go for another one.

Peter Atherton: England's top order sorted now with Hameed & Jennings. Lack of decent spinner exposed again. Should pick Leach or Rayner.
It's all over in Melbourne, where Australia have stormed to a 117-run win to complete a 3-0 one-day series whitewash over New Zealand.
There's little doubt over the match award (again) as David Warner hit 156 off 128 balls - his second successive century, his fourth in six games and his seventh of the year.
The next highest score in the match was Travis Head's 37 for Australia, while New Zealand mustered a paltry 147 in pursuit of 265 to win as Mitchell Starc claimed 3-34.
England's Jos Buttler, who made 76, on Sky Sports: "We're still in a pretty good position - 400 is really good total to have on the board. It's a good batting wicket. People have showed that if you play well there's runs to be had.
"Those two guys have played well but we're still 250 ahead, and as we've seen two things do happen quickly. You almost get lulled into thinking it's a great batting wicket.
"We could bowl a bit better. There's the added expectation for the spinners - the two guys have bowled so well all tour. I'm sure they'll come back strong tomorrow."

When we bowled, there are no alarms. With our spinners, there was one ball that pitched outside leg stump. Rashid couldn't find his line, his length - there were too many easy balls to hit.
You've got to come back to the most stupid selection - four seam bowlers. None of them got a wicket. When you go to other countries, you've got to look at the make-up of your attack. I've already got two seamers.
You can't keep bowling four seamers on a pitch that hasn't done a thing. We gave too many easy balls and our seamers were straight up and down.

It's no contest on this Mumbai pitch so far.
The combined figures of the seamers are 0-132 from 45 overs.
The spinners have taken 11-406 from 137.1 overs, the wickets falling at an average of 36.9.

The best batting today came from Buttler. He showed a degree of common sense and maturity which we haven't seen much of from him in Test cricket. He's a fantastic player. I've said before he should be batting at four because he's that good.

India are still 254 runs behind England. One really good session tomorrow morning where they pick up three or four wickets and this game really changes. If one of the Indian players gets a big hundred then the pressure will be on England in the third innings. It's all to play for and a terrific Test match.
India's Ravichandran Ashwin, who took 6-112, on Sky Sports: "It's pretty special because the wicket was pretty easy to bat on yesterday. It's very difficult to bowl maidens here."
On his favourite wicket: "I've been watching a lot of videos of Root getting out to off-spinners, and he's been driving or push-driving.
"It's a very deceptive wicket - it looks like it's doing a lot but it's pretty hard and well rolled. If you're not finding the right length you can go for a lot of runs."

It's all to play for - terrific Test match cricket. The difference in the quality of the spinners is why it looks like the pitch has flattened out. India will fancy their chances of batting all day tomorrow and getting a little lead.

Alastair Cook dons the lid and goes in at short leg, making it two men in close on the leg side. Vijay, now in a cap, is unfazed and turns Root round the corner for two - the only runs of what is the final over.

Shouldn't that be on a pair tree?

Lovely stuff.
Every England fielder goes up as Pujara is struck on the pad by Rashis, but it is more in desperation than belief. The pad was way outside off.
The last allotted over of the day. A maiden. I think we'll squeeze in another.

India are playing with a great deal of confidence and concentration, England are just hoping for a mental lapse and getting the batsmen thinking about walking off. It's looking like the England team want to get back in the dressing room, regroup, have a bit of kip and come back tomorrow.
India are taking what they have, and rightly so. They have won this session emphatically and will be happy to come back tomorrow with these two to go again. Vijay pats Root back for a maiden.

That's an awful delivery, I think he's missed his length by about seven metres. Oh my word.
